Hi

I'm getting ready to go out for a couple of hours, and I was changing bags. Was sorting through and found a packet of fags in my other bag I'd forgotten about, lol this probably sounds a bit daft but my reaction straight away was "eww" and I scrunched the packet up right away and it's in the bin!!

I'm feeling really positive about my quit now

Love it. Shows the right attitude. I was a very furtive smoker and came to associate any opportunity to smoke privately as a desire to smoke. Think I have changed that faulty thinking now and I would also have thrown them away, but previously I would hqve seen them as a gift from the Gods, and blown it. Well done!

I know it was a bit silly to be so pleased, but I was grinning all over my face that I binned them and that I wasn't even a little bit tempted to smoke one!!

That made me have a wobble on my last quit so I must be a lot more set this time round :cool:

I used to be furtive too, hid my smoking from my parents for much longer than I "needed" to 'cos they hate it and hated that I smoked even more - which was partly why I did it. Now that *is* daft!! :eek:

I was also a furtive smoker weirdly preferred to smoke on my own and probably a lot more than people knew, I think this is why it has made it harder for me to quit this time round as more secretive in some ways.

I have been feeling embarrassed and ashamed of this and it's a relief other people also seem to have done this an it's not so uncommon.

Just seeing your quit date makes me see it is achievable.

Another thing I'm pleased about

Have just been on a 3 mile walk - fast walk too - and even jogged some of it!! There's absolutely no way I could have done that when I smoked, would have been panting and making loads of excuses for it. :eek:

There's some really steep hills where I live and I live up one of them, anyway I was able to walk up it so much quicker and was even accellerating :cool:

Must of missed this post the other day, belated congrats on that victory. Strength and determination in you is growing every day, I can see that in your posts.

Another thing I'm pleased about

I had a huge craving for squirty cream (unhealthy I know but it's better than fags) so I called in for some on my way home from work, they didn't have any but I was running out of chewing gum too - that's my new addiction - and just out of habit looked at the display of fags, and it was £7.97 for 20 Marlboro Lights :eek::eek:

Must admit I felt very smug when the girl in front of me bought fags and I didn't!!

Scary thing is that I'd have probably grumbled and still paid up if i still smoked them.

Gemma - thinking of all the lovely treats I can have instead of buying fags that I didn't even like come the end!! x

Know I've had my wobbles but I'm so glad I've quit - I keep finding good things about not being a smoker any more :cool:

Yet another positive thing

They just keep on coming!!

Today I'm wearing a lovely skirt I bought a few months ago - it's a red/pink underneath and a black see through layer on top with pretty flowers on. This is the first time I dared wear it 'cos I was so frightened of hot ash falling onto it and burning a hole through!!

Yet another freedom not smoking has given me :cool:
