I seem to be strollin' through this fine! Pffft whoever ever said this was easy ought to have their head checked! *******okay back to reality********

Godddaaaaammmnnn this is awful! It's Saturday and am BORED out of my brain! The day is just dragging on and on and on. I would LOVE to go out for a coffee and light up a ciggie or 3! It's the perfect day to do it and I can't :(

Going to the sister-in-law's house tonight for dinner. Her irritate the living shizen out of me. Oh how I loved slipping outside for a ciggie to avoid hearing their crap. Not tonight though, big test.

******

What I've learnt:

Yesterday I went cold turkey from NRT for the entire day, bad decision. This morning I was a monster until I had one mini mint lozenge today and it seemed to have got me through it. Air never felt so good to breathe fresh air, although it hurts me lungs every now and then.

My smoking room (garage) smells terrific, like a normal garage! Still not planning on sitting out there any time soon though.

Checked my progress on the Quitit app for my iPhone, I'm 4 days 18 hours 14 minutes smoke free (since 10:51pm 31-12-2012) saved $55.03 (35.35 british pounds), kept 971.2mg or tar out of my body and have not smoked 81 cigarettes. Come to think of it, that's a lot of ciggies to chug down in just a few days ... :S

Dreaded ct!

Oh dear, thrill house, I am going without patch too today, so hopefully I won't turn into a monster!

But anyway, you got through it, that's the important thing. Can you try and keep yourself busy today? Maybe do a clear out in the garage, or of you clothes, or go for a long walk with or without family?

As for tonight, yes it will be a test but you will manage fine. And even if sister in law gets on your nerves, you can just use the "I've just given up the fags" and give as good as you get!

Good luck and let us know how you are getting on!

X

Nik

Hey Nik :)

It didn't turn out that bad, we were only there for an hour and a half and I just had my nose in my iphone hehe. That's become a lifesaver sometimes!

Hey don't stress too much if you have to go back on the patches, I admit I can't get on the day without my mini mint lozenge... well it beats those cancer sticks, that's for sure!

How you coping now?

There is no shame in using NRT to support your quit! I feel like writing that out again.....................There is no shame in using NRT to support your quit!

Honestly! What matters is that you aren't smoking. Nifty is an expert on this - if you go cold turkey before you are ready, you risk losing your quit :(. NRT is a much much better option that starting smoking again. I know you know this, however, I get the feeling that you are being appologetic for using NRT...............Why????? :(

Edit: I've just been re-reading the posts on this thread, and on reflection I think this post of mine is a bit too intense and personal. Also, Thrillhouse is not expressing any regret over using NRT. I stand by the points I am making here, but to the general audience rather than individuals on this thread. Appologies for any offence caused

Agree with Biggrin, it does not matter how you stop, or what you use to stop...so long as you do stop!!

Don't forget also...you want this, you chose it, enjoy it!!

I'm completely with Biggrin, don't apologise for using NRT!

Who ever is going to give a flying monkeys wotsit in 5 years time how you quit!

You are doing something amazing, and anything, I mean anything that gets you there is just fine!

People get far far too hung up on quit methods IMO. They don't mean anything other than meaning people with similar quit methods can give advice to others using the same method.

Keep going and stay strong

I couldn't agree more!!

Am definitely not an expert but am certain that without NRT I'd be smoking again so I think anything that keeps you off the fags has to be a good thing.

Good luck with your quit, and don't worry about *how* you do it as long as you do!!
