The cough?

I have been waiting for this terrible cough that everyone talks about when you quit smoking. I thought I would have a terrible cleansing episode considering the length of time I smoked, and how many I smoked. But not a peep, I am only a month free, but in my head I felt this would be a real sign that I am doing well. Daft I know, as I feel great with no smoking, despite the odd crave I think this time I have done it. I am looking forward to the new year, not worried about having to commit to giving up smoking again. This year I resolve to be nicer to myself and not poison myself anymore, unless it is with beer, ha ha.

Hi biddypat - congratulations on quitting, it's the best thing in the world!

Not everyone gets 'the cough'. But your lungs ARE healing, you have to stay positive about that.

Keep going, don't be discouraged, everybody's quit is different but the reasons for doing it are ALL positive.

I thought I would be coughing my toes through my nostrils by now but nothing after 2 months.

With or without the cough...you are doing well

For over a month I've been getting stuff coming up out of my lungs, and swallowing it, but no cough.

Did any of you have a cough before you stopped? This could be a reason for not getting a cough. But the body is a wonderful thing and can clean and repair itself without you even noticing it doing so.

Don't sit around waiting for a cough to happen. If you get it okay but if not then even better.

Ive had a bit of a cough..but when i smoked it was my trigger to have a fag..now its the opposite i no longer choke going into hot places an eww smokers stink lol

I have however had a non stop runny nose even when im asleep..:eek:
