Hi everyone! New to this forum as i decided to give up smoking and would be nice for a bit of support, and to give support also. Got 24 hour patches and put first on last night (crazy dreams and restess night) so up an hour and its so hard, everything looks like a cigarette! #mustpowerthrough!:(

good for you trying to quit i would really suggest putting a 24h patch on as soon as you wake up and take it off when you are going to sleep, have some nicorette lozenges next to your bed just in case, the reason i say is this is because the patch is at its strongest when you first put it on and when taking it off your dreams shouldnt be as weird good luck and stay focused.

Hi Lucy, and welcome. It's great you've decided to quit, the benefits of being an ex-smoker will soon be accumulating for you. Good luck with your quit, I look forward to reading your posts in the future. :)

welcome

Hello and welcome.:)I agree with steeza I wouldnt wear patch 24hrs.I quit 71/2wks ago using 5mg patches 12hrs....then 1/2 patches then zilch.I used the lowest dose just to take edge off cravings and stopped all of them after 3 wks.

You do what suits you andd take it a day at a time.I remember just wanting to get first wk over and here I am nearly 2 mth, time has flown.

Hi Lucy

Welcome, and well done in your decision to quit. I have been quit for a couple of months using the same method as you. 21 strength 24 hr patches. It was the first time I've used the 24 hr ones, (previously used 16 hr) I'm impressed, I kept them on around the clock for the 1st 6 weeks, (insomnia and vivid dreams) however, little or no cravings:) Then I started taking patches off at bedtime for weeks 6 to 8 in readiness for the lower strength patch (16) which Im on now for next 4 weeks (still taking off at bedtime).

So, regarding strength and 16/24 hr etc, patches, We are all different, so I think you'll be able to gauge yourself which suits you best.
