Day One - quitting cold turkey

Today has been hard, I went to my local newsagents earlier to buy bread & milk and was so tempted to buy some cigarettes as I gazed behind the counter! I'm so pleased I resisted though. I'm finding the support on here really helpful and encouraging, so thank you all! :D

I've had the usual cravings, but one worrying thing is I'm getting a terrible aching headache! Is this because of the withdrawals or something else?

Well done on your decision to quit, CT is hard but best if you can do it. The headache could be a bit of tension aswell as withdrawal it can be stressful in the first few days. You should be pleased you resisted that is really good.

Your newsagent shouldn't have cigarettes on show anymore and now they are behind shutters you are not as tempted. Your newsagent will have to follow suit as this is the law.

Well done on your quit, I quit cold turkey on 12/4/12 and it was tough but 7 months later I'm smoke free. When I quit previously I used NRT and didn't last more than a couple of days.

Best of luck!

anyone quitting CT is a super hero in my book good on you keep going now you have started cravings will come and go and sometimes seem hard to beat but they do get easier to manage and yes they can last quite a while but again they do get less severe and less frequent just remember to stay away from any triggers and keep your mind distracted (movies helps me) for however long it takes you will get there hey i was smoking like 60 - 70 per day and if i can do this anyone can do this we have this demon beat

you are doing good and remember not smoking will not kill you nobody ever died from not smoking

cheers

Ten months, three weeks, one day, 16 hours, 16 minutes and 16 seconds. 19660 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,206.58. Life saved: 9 weeks, 5 days, 6 hours, 20 minutes.
