I've passed the 'out for drinks in a different town' test. Went out to the theatre and had a few too many Jack D's with friends and family. Sat happily chatting away while members of the group went out to smoke. Didn't feel as deprived as i expected I would. Wobbled home around 2am, job done!

ps Sister Act rocked!!!!

Yahooooooo. Well if you can pass that test you can pass any. Bloody well done. These things are funny in the end. They all go out for a smoke and then they all come back in again.....then they all go out again......in again......out again :) Well you get the idea. First time I faced that test I was a bit pangy first time they went out.....then......tenth time they went out I just though......jeeepers....i'm glad i'm not that stupid anymore. Glad I've broken free from it.

It was exactly like that, in/out/in/out and I used to be leading the way. But like you say by the end of the night very happy not to be part of the gang anymore. For me 5 days feels very good, 5 months is a massive achievement well done Dippy keep on at it!!! What has been the hardest/easiest/lowest points for you if you don't mind my asking?

What has been the hardest/easiest/lowest points for you if you don't mind my asking?

I dont mind you asking at all. The hardest part....far and away....was the first few mad days. I wanted to smoke every second of every minute of the first couple of days. Had to lie on the floor like I was playing planking. Mad days. Actually though....once I beat them out of the way its all been fairly plain sailing. Your post rang massive bells though........coz I think the lowest point was at a christening about a month or so in to my quit.........arghhhhhhh........the gang, like you, I used to be the head of......were going out for smokes. Eeeeehhh gads. I didnt know where to put myself. I was twitchy. Depressed. Lonely. I should have been with them. This was quite shocking coz I really hadnt been bothered about smoking at all. It was like a brick in my face or something. Then......like I said.....I watched them go out, in, out in, out, in......till I really just felt so relieved. I could see with such clarity that what they were all going out for, just wasnt satisfying them. And that is the pig of smoking. You have to smoke every 20 minutes or so for the rest of your life to beat that endless need. How pants is that?

Easiest part? I cant remember exactly when this happened, but, I do remember knowing I would never smoke again right from the off......but still bloody caring about it. Still being bothered. I used to ask everyone......when? When will I stop caring? I was so happy to have kicked the habit, no longer had any cravings at all.....but was still sort of edgy and bothered by it. Bothered even though I knew I'd never want to smoke again. One day......I cant remember when.....ages ago now though. I suddenly realised I didnt care about fags anymore at all. I couldnt even remember when I had last cared. The day when I suddenly really wasnt bothered anymore just passed me by. Easy :) Easy easy peasy ever since too. :)

You may only be 5 days in. But thats all it takes to know you've beaten it. If you can do five days you can do five month, years. I'll be six months stopped on bonfire night. Fireworks, sparklers and jacket spuds. How clever was my timing? :D

I do notice the in our thing. I had my bday meal Thursday and noticed his many times the smokers where in and out.

And I did find it kinda rude:eek: I'm so glad I ain't like that any more

Well done Lungsbackplease what you wrote reminded me of what Allen Carr once said; if you're in the company of smokers and don't want to feel left out when they pop out for a cigarette you should wear an uncomfortably tight belt that evening then loosen it slightly for 4 minutes or so every half an hour then tighten it again; that's what you're missing out on discomfort for the whole night apart from the odd few minutes of repreive - loved that ****ogy:)

Hey Dippy, I have also had the "When will I not be bothered by not smoking" issues too. It's partly what kept me smoking as long as I did. Thinking to myself a cold pint's not the same without a smoke etc. I get a funny feeling at the realisation that I won't smoke again and look forward to the day when I notice I can't remember last having that feeling. Thanks for the words Dippy!
