Hi All

Gosh, I haven't been on for a while. Life, mainly work, has been mental. So many pages of new posts when I logged in and so many new quitters.

So, I got to the 6 month milestone a couple of weeks ago. Feeling good, and now able to say that I have not been a smoker for more of the last year than I was a smoker. :)

To all the newbies, good luck and best wishes. Stick with it, it defo gets better and easier.

To everyone else, and particularly that fantastic bunch of you who were around and helping me in the earlier (tougher ) days (you all know who you are ;)), glad to see you're all still quit and doing well.

No need for any responses or congratulations; I really just wanted to let my co-quitters know I'm not Missing in Action and wish everyone all the best. :D

Never mind, no need for any responses! You have been a fantastic support to me no way would I let a milestone of yours go by without congratulating you!

You have done fantastic Shazza and should be really proud. Just think we will be non smokers at Christmas this year, that is what I am so pleased about. not sure why it is such a big deal? Maybe because every other year I know that I will be asked

"are you gonna quit for your new year resolution?"

This year it will be to lose my no smoking weight gain. haha.

Aww Haze, thanks flower, and thanks for the PM. I hope you're well - you sound it.

Thanks for all your support. I see you're still going very strong with the new quitters, I could never keep up with you! You're such an inspiration.

Weight - I have literally just, a couple of weeks ago, started some exercise. I am building up very slowly and have to be careful about what I do, as I have a spine problem (degenerative discs resulting in full leg agonising sciatica when I do something I ought not) so no running for me unfortunatley!

I'm doing some treadmill walking, cross trainer, and this morning I've just done the first day of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Heaven help me I may not be able to walk tomorrows . I didn't jump about as much as she suggests, I kept it low intensity to avoid injury until I've re-built some strength and fitness. And yesterday, we both bought lovely shiny mountain bikes. Hopefully they will be here by the weekend.

(Dippy - if you're reading, I think I might now have the 2nd lovliest bike in England). :D

In fairness, I'm only about a stone heavier than I was a year ago, and not all of that is quitting, some of it is because of sedentary lifestyle as I have 2 really bad episodes of sciatica since last June, resulting in 4 months off work and not moving much!

I'm trying to watch the food a bit, but I'm afraid I love my food and wine, so exercise has always been the saviour.

Do you know, I hadn't thought about Christmas. What a lovely positive thought.

Thanks for your message and very best wishes.

Sx

Oh blimey. Last time I did any real posting was in August. Haze mentioned Christmas - I really did take the mickey. Haze - I didn't pick up on the fact that you've mentioned it again in this thread. Oh well, I suppose mentioning it in Otober is slightly more respectable than August! :o :p ;) :D
