My nan passed away saturday down to smoking. It was horrible to see her suffer I don't want to put my children through what I had to see, so decieded to quit.
Any tips, stories on what helped people to quit would be very helpful thanks

Hi zoe,
Welcome to the site. So sorry to hear about your Nan.
It's easy to ignore the possible effects of smoking and keep on with our habit when we don't have to witness such things at close hand. A loss like this hits us hard, and makes us realise how fragile our lives are.
It's so sad that your Nan had to go through such a horrible illness, and that you had to suffer this loss. But you're doing something really positive now: keep that memory in your heart, put your best foot forward, and look after your health. I'm sure your Nan would be really proud of you for choosing to honour her like this.
Prayers for you and your family at this sad time.
Helen
Thank you for your kind words, I know excatly what you mean when you don't see the effects of smoking first hand, its very easy to sit their and think its not not going to happen to me. The pain I had to see her in has stuck in my mind and will forever, I do NOT want to smoke and set a bda example to my children,
I think that if everyone saw the true effects of smoking no-one in the world would smoke! I will beat this! Xxxx
Just remember that it isn't going to go easy or smoothly. Take it one day at a time and just hang in there. Come on here and holler, rant, cry...whatever YOU NEED TO DO!!! We all understand and will help you. Just don't give in. ppat
