Going against my own principles...

My quit has mostly consisted of trying not to count days, money and all that other wonderful stuff. I always felt that doing so would bring the quit to the forefront of my mind; what I wanted to do was just get on with it.

Well that approach worked but I'm breaking out for a few days. Monday 6th August will be my first year anniversary. I hope you don't mind me counting down the last few days.

I wish I knew what I was thinking 366 days ago as I never meant for my quit to start. I was one of those "I'll never be able to do it" folk in the back of my head.

I hear you man, and I've often advocated against counting days, if only to take away the focus from how long a person has managed to "go without" smoking. But after such a great period of time I think you need to be very proud of what you have done, and start actively celebrating those milestones moving forward!

AWESOME ACHIEVEMENT!!!

Alex.

Good for you Stav and a huge pat on the back.

I have been far less focused on days etc this time. I don't care so long as I am doing it.

Hope you are going to celebrate in style :D

Hey Stav

Fantastic achievement. Nelson Mandella didn't count the days when he GOT OUT of prison! But glad you've posted about this fantastic milestone so we can take motivation from your success and congratulate you on it. :D

Thanks everybody.

Yes things are slightly different now BB. I recall I first joined the forums back in early 2010 (I think) and at that time I was struggling with smoking, anxiety, panic and food. I finally managed to tackle the smokes last year, the anxiety and panic first 1/4 of this year and now the weight is coming off. I've never felt so fit and healthy.

Still something missing though, not sure if it's the career or what. I've got my spine surgery booked for next April and will have more options once I've recovered from that.

I have caught the well-being bug though and have tried therapies like mindfullness; I would have scoffed at these before.

First time I've really thought about it actually....I've changed quite a lot.
