EVIE...We are almost at a week!!!

Stay together, keep strong, win this battle.

Come on, by god, we can do it together.

Someone on this forum described us as an 'A Team' for quitting. Let's make sure we live up to that!

Hope you had a good day.

Bring on Day 7, let's smash it to peices!

Still Here

Hi Phil

Good to hear from you and good to hear that you are still going strong.

Like you, today has had it's minor stresses for me - just little things that would normally give me an excuse to light up (of course it is Friday 13th, not that I'm really superstitious, but maybe that's the reason today has been such a pain at times) . I'm pleased to say I've discovered that I can handle these irritating situations perfectly well without having to rely on my old smoking habit. It still feels strange and as if something is missing at times but I'm slowly getting used to this new feeling of freedom.

I can't believe I have almost managed a week without smoking and I have to admit that I am feeling good about myself. I hope this doesn't make me sound smug because I'm well aware there will almost definitely be testing times ahead for me. It's nice to know that others have commented on our endeavours but I'm still finding my way around this site and so far haven't seen these posts myself - I will have a look around though.

It really is lovely to have someone to share this experience with Phil and your encouragement and support is such a help in keeping me motivated. I think some of your positivity must be rubbing off on me too.

The weather in the UK has been dire for the past few weeks and we've had constant rain which has been quite depressing. However, there has been a big improvement today and we have had sunshine (I was beginning to wonder if we would ever see the sun again) and it has also been reasonably warm, at least for where I live, so that too has helped to lift my spirits considerably.

Well Phil, I guess we'll be starting Day 7 tomorrow, well actually today, so Good Luck to both of us.

Hope all is well with you.

Evie:)

Haze56..Thanks for you kind comments. Sharing a painful and stressful experience, such as quitting, is a time for friendship and support. Adversity often brings out the very best in us all.

Evie and I have a common enemy..and have created a bond to tackle it. Many a lesser army have recorded famous victories against a more powerful foe simply be fighting together and standing shoulder to shoulder when it gets tough.

I view quitting as a war and I am quite pleased and proud Evie and I have bumped into each other at this phase of the battle. We both are sufficiently intelligent to know that tough times lie ahead..but why the hell we should succumb to and be ruled by an expensive stick of poison, is beyond all rationale.

The humble ciggy is a powerful, sneaky and crafty enemy but we just have to win back our freedom from it by standing firm, sharing the hard bits and supporting each other.

Evie...We could do with some of your rain. No rain here since late April and temp now around 40c inland. The sea is nice at 28c but we do have a few 'jellies'!!

Take care and stay strong.

Haze, thankyou for your support and I hope you enjoy our posts as much as I do.

Phil, joining this site and being able to enjoy your company as we both struggle to beat our addiction seems to be having such a positive effect on my attitude to quitting.

I am always motivated by the wisdom of your anti-smoking quotes and amused by some of the strategies you are using to help you as you negotiate yourself through this 'giving-up' minefield. It definitely brings a smile to my face as I imagine you entertaining perfect strangers with tales of your quit journey.:) I'm sure that these little things are helping me to stay strong and making me more determined than ever to stick this out to the bitter end this time.

Today has been a good one, we've also had more sunshine which is a Godsend and my thoughts of smoking have been few and far between, which can only be a good sign. No 40 degree temperatures though - that's a bit too hot for me - and I fear that any jelly fish would freeze in my nearby north sea.

Is it time for us to move up to a new slot now that we've both reached the 1 week mark I'm wondering?

Hope your day has been good.

Evie x
