I hope you are all doing well, I don't post much but I like to read this forum sometimes for support, I feel compelled to share my experience this week, here goes!
I haven't had a cigarette for 13 weeks and 6 days and I have been using NRT to aid my quit, I had weaned myself down to the 10 mg patches and felt fairly confident that I could go without. I took my last patch off on monday gone and the withdrawl was horrendous, I felt awful, anxious, jumpy etc, now I'm usually a hard faced cow but this was something else! Alas I have not had a fag but have had a go of the inhalator and a piece of nicotine chewy, and felt loads better, can anyone give me any advice as I don't know what to do now.
Many thanks, lightbulb

Good job on getting as far as you have. I would use the inhaler and chewy if you really need it...just try not to get dependent on them.
During my worst hours I would repeat NOPE......Not one Puff ever! Sometimes I would say that 100 times in a day. I am on my forth month and doing pretty good. Good luck on keeping this going and remember we are all here for you!!!ppat
i went onto the inhalator when i finished with the patches i found i gradually used it less and less it wasnt a concious decision it just happened naturally try not to overthink it all just go with the flow and and use it when you need to and see how it goes

Great idea to come onto the Forum seeking advice. Good suggestions from both ppat324 and boo. Along with ppat324's NOPE there's also HALT which stands for Hunger, Anger, Loneliness, Tired and is about taking care of your basic needs whilst going through addiction recovery. You could google that up if you wish further information.
Aside from that there is nothing to stop you from going back to the patches. You say that you were on 10mg before stopping using them. Are there smaller sizes that you could use?
Some members of old decided to wean themselves off patches by cutting them down in size. I've only heard success of that process...although the caveat is that I'd imagine that nothing is 100% perfect. Worth a try though.
I also come off the patches on Tuesday as I will also be finishing my programme with the chemist as I will be 3 months smoke free. I am having panic attacks about it, can you buy the inhalator capsules over the counter does anyone know please xx
I went from 21mg to 14mg to 5mg patches and was dreading the cravings but didn't really get any. So I stopped the patches and 2 days later was a snotty sobbing jibbering wreck, desperate for a fag. Pathetic. And scary. So i went back on the patches for a week and then chopped them into smaller pieces so I guess i was then on 2.5mg for a week and three days ago I stopped patches again, and this time it's been okay. So far. So get back on the patches, and maybe reduce them by chopping them up (some of the peeps on here told me to do that!!) then maybe stopping altogether won't be so bad.
