6 months ago I told my huspand that I didn't want to smoke anymore and that I would try to give up but I also said that I really doubted that I could....
I was wrong! And how happy I am that I was!
Sure - there are times when the thought 'I really could do with a cigarette right now' passes through my mind but I kind of enjoy that as it reminds me that I have a choice whether to smoke or not, and I choose not to - and it is an easy choice.
I wouldn't class myself as a 'non-smoker' yet - but saying that, I had a dream a couple of weeks ago that I had a cigarette and when I woke up there was no relief, no disappointment, no feelings at all - it was just a dream. So that makes me think that my mind set is slowly changing to being a non-smoker.
But - it is still one day at a time. I seem to have had it very easy in comparison to others on this forum and for that I am grateful...but that is no reason to sit back and relax...! I am going on a sun/beach holiday in a few weeks - and in my minds eye, I see myself sitting by the pool, cocktail in hand - and yes, a flippin cigarette...but that is just a memory from previous similar holidays. So a little bit worried about that - really hoping that I can keep the right mind set going and not give in to 'one cigarette won't hurt'....
What is good though is to see that so many of the people who joined the forum at the same time as me last year are still around!

you'll be fine on holiday. I thought the same thing. And yes, it crossed my mind a few times at first. But it was just a new trigger like all the others, totally manageable, and after a day or so I settled into it fine, didn't want to smoke at all - especially when I smelt other reeky smokers. They were ruining the fresh air for me!!
Well done on such a strong quit. Keep on keeping on!
