I haven't had a cigarette since 9pm on 25th October, so 3 months ago today was my first full day smoke free.
Things have got pretty difficult since then, I am facing unemployment within the next couple of months (I work for a Local Authority) and with all of the change going on for everyone, work is a pretty miserable place to be. It's been affecting my whole life; I'm not sleeping and I'm feeling very low.
However.....although I often think I would love a fag, I'm not actually in any danger of having one because.......... I don't smoke!!

Hi muddles,
Congratulations on 3 months, that is brilliant
Know what you mean about unemployment. My income went down after my first quit and it feels rotten. Bad sleep and feeling low doesn't help either, but trust me, I smoked and it made everything worse
Fantastically well done Muddles. sorry to hear of your misery and dread its as bad here too .dont add smoke to it it will just make it worse it will all pass.. i hope
Really well done on reaching this next milestone, Muddles - what an achievement!
Sorry to hear about the work issues - I don't know any Local Authorities that could be described as happy places right now. But at least you can gain some small satisfaction that by not smoking, you are paying less tax. Hopefully, that will equate to a few less pies for Eric bloody Pickles.
I'm in the same boat, you're not on your own. I work for the NHS and was made redundant, trouble is the work stills needs doing so they ended up re-employing me on a short term contract instead of being a permanent employee. Unfortunately I didn't get my redundancy payment as they offered it me as suitable alternative employment whilst I was working my notice. At the end of the day a job is a job but the atmosphere where I work is terrible. Just know you're not on your own. I had a terrible week at work and in my personal life last week and wanted a ciggie so bad at times but I'm proud I got through it, you can get through it too. Us october quitters have to stay strong, we've done amazingly but like everyone says what would smoking do to improve things. Nothin...a big fat zilch.
Lets stick together....giving up is saving us pennies. My mum says if you feel like crying...run yourself a bath and goddamn cry!
