Im new to this forum and have been a smoker for the last 12 years. I have tried patches and E cigerattes and tomorrow i am off to see a cognitive hypnotherapist called Cari Wesby.
Im really looking forward to trying this out and she has pretty good testomonials tbh, so my hopes are high. Im really fed up with smoking, it's costing me way too much, my gf is fed up with me. For some reason I always end up going to have a fag. So anyone else been and had hypnotherapy?
I am going to come back tomorrow and tell everyone how it went then leave posts on the daily chart thing.
Im desperate to quit and really want to give up, here is the website i found for the cognitive hypnotherapy: <Commercial Link Removed>

Just dropping in to tell you how my session went trying out hypnotherapy.
So i chose to go to the the rooms based in Victoria which were pretty easy to get to and the whole experience was very self rewarding.
Cari Wesby was there to welcome me personally and put me at ease straight away. Very nice lady who is not condescending at all. Sometimes it feels like people talk down to you about quitting but this was not the case at all.
The session took about 2 hours and was a complete eye opener and im proud to say since i saw her on the 7th, i have not touched a fag! A lot of things were covered in the session which have made me feel liberated and have the strength to stay a non-smoker.
Regarding the Cari Wesby, she friendly and made me feel at complete ease. I honestly believe i will not need to go back and see her for a follow up as I believe i can keep this up and not smoke. Hope this helps any of you trying to quit. Here is the web address again: <Commercial Link Removed>
I tried hypnotherapy, walked out of the office, got into my car and lit up lol.
Im not saying it doesnt work as I know people who went to a different hypnotherapist to the one I chose and they stopped. Either mine was rubbish or Im not as easily influenced as I thought lol.

Same here Lillie, tried it twice and never did a thing for me. I always thought I was suggestible but perhaps not
Many years ago I had a hypnotherapy session with (THE) Alan Carr in his home in Barnes.(
WOW Una you kept that one quiet !
I think I have read somewhere that not everyone is "hypnotisable". Seems to be many of us on here lol, maybe our addiction sensors are more suggestible than our hypnotherapy sensors ??
The bit on this thread I like is the word "cognitive" in the medical world cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is used to tackle most forms of addiction and the Alan Carr method is pretty much a type of CBT understanding and controlling your behaviour is the key
