Right just been to the dentist and things are not so good in Lisa's mouth.
One of my bottom teeth is loose, most likely due to gum disease and I have major gum recession on my bottom front teeth. I'm so upset about this and worried I'll loose a tooth at 37!!!!
I've got to go back in two weeks and have some work done, hopefully they'll save the tooth. Apparently smoking is a major cause of gum disease as it promotes the growth of bad bacteria in the mouth.
I am never, ever smoking again!!!! I don't want to be toothless before I'm 40. Another good incentive to stay quit and even though I'm upset I don't feel the urge to have a fag, in fact I'm disgusted at myself for letting this happen in the first place.

Awww lisa i have had the same probs with my teeth and had 2 fall out! fortunately they were at the back so my teeth look great from the front esp now they are all white and sparkly :).
One of the main reasons for me to give up was money and health including tooth decy as my mum who is 60 next september has now only 4 teeth remaining and 2 of those are about to fall out, she doesnt work and couldnt afford to go to the dentist.
One tooth isnt the end of the world just look at what we have gained and how proud we are of our achievements.
hopefully like us your tooth will be saved hurrah!!!
Heehee Dave you might need a steady supply of those for us all
I have also visited the dreaded dentist this week, another cracked tooth, as they have been inexplicably so doing for years. I don't think I have many "real" ones left under all the crowns fillings and veneers I have. I have spent so much money on keeping these teeth all beacuse of smoking. My gums were also terrible.......however I am noticing improvements of late
Gums are light pink not red and inflamed, a good sign, and look somehow more attached to the teeth than before?? Anyway, dissapointed he didn't ask me if I smoked this time, and I came away with a quote for the work of £382 pounds and an appt for January Good job I don't smoke anymore with a bill that size!
Bloody dentists ..... they put you in that chair and hurt you ... then they let you out of de chair and hit you with a big bill before you get out the door (more hurt).
Who else would dare do that ....BLOODY dentists. ....
I lost my bottom front teeth to gum disease. They couldnt save them because the disease had got into the jaw bone and had begun to disintegrate that too.
My mouth causes me lots of problems ( not least because I cant shut it lol ). My gums inflame the minute I feel run down and at times its so bad it makes me cry.
However since stopping smoking I too have noticed that my gums are changing from an inflammed red to a lovely pink. The dentist did give me instructions on how to treat my gums at home and that has helped a lot.
Well anyway, at the moment I cant afford to spend a lot of money at the dentist, ssp doesnt spread that far, but Im back to work in January so I have a list of jobs I want to have done once Im getting my wages again.
My teeth were another of my reasons to quit. I've never had a filling, tooth out, cap etc.
But in recent years I could feel my teeth were feeling strange, almost itching.
It was one of the things I noticed first after quitting. My smell, taste, chest dont feel massively improved but quitting has definitely improved my mouth. the misses even lets me sleep in the same bed now and everything so my breath must be shipshape as well
:D:D Oh yes Lisa teeth I have just had one of my teeth out as they couldnt save it. Glad to hear your doing well, pat on the back, and I hope you get to keep your tooth.
