300 days without a single drag on a fag

I've not smoked 11,000 fags since the 6th November.

I've not spent £3,000 on cigs since 21st October (Stop date & last fag date).

Like most people on here I was the most determined smoker I knew.

I'm ashamed now at the times I insisted on my smoking "rights"

I'm happy in the company of smokers although not in my house obviously.

If I can do it you can do it. I've been trying to stop since I was 23 years old. It's taken me 23 years to succeed. I never did more than 4 days smoke free until I was 37 in the countless "stops" I tried.

I did 9 months (with the odd cheat) when I was 38 but started again because I thought "I can have the odd one".

I finally feel free of the nicotine now. I'm 46 in 3 months.

You can do it

Managing unpleasant feelings such as stress,

depression, loneliness, fear, and anxiety are

some of the most common reasons why adults

smoke. When you have a bad day, it can seem

like your cigarettes are your only friend.

Smoking can temporarily make feelings such as

sadness, stress, anxiety, depression, and

boredom evaporate into thin air. As much

comfort as cigarettes provide, though, it’s

important to remember that there are healthier

(and more effective) ways to keep unpleasant

feelings in check. These may include exercising,

meditating, using sensory relaxation strategies,

and practicing simple breathing exercises.
