Cravings getting bad :(: So i'm almost on day... - No Smoking Day
Cravings getting bad :(
Keep going
Hi micste2010
Posting and reading on here was a big help to me. I also found that taking 10 deep slow breaths helped me to calm down - it was like smoking without the ciggy As i smoked menthol cigarettes, I also sucked mints (sugar free) or munching on a carrot stick. The cravings only last for a short time and you need to find something to distract your brain and it will go away.
I always had a ciggy with a coffee or a glass of wine, so in the early days I only drank water to help break the association and it worked. I am now back on coffee and wine and do not feel that anything is missing.
As your quit progresses, the time between the cravings gets longer and therefore it becomes easier to overcome - honest.
Stay strong and keep posting.
Walking, eating, reading and playing silly games on facebook all worked for me. I think it is just the distraction of doing smoething else for a while makes you forget. Keep going, the worst is nearly over.
Made it past day 2 and im just about to go onto day 4.Day 3 wasn't to bad except for a Bad craving just after i had some dinner. To be Honest , quitting is not as hard as i thought it would be
Just change your daily routine ever so slightly...I mean in any way you can. It makes everything a little different so you're not just concentrating on the smoking thing. I mentioned in a previous post that I started to take a different route to work where I could pay at pump for petrol. When I make my sandwiches I make them on a different work top than usual, maybe move a few things around in the house so they're a little different.
Sounds very odd I know but it means you really reorganising your life and not just making this a 'smoking thing'. The problem with quitting is that you're aware that you're quitting...this inherently makes you thing about smoking.
People laugh at me but I really am a fan of the elastic band around the wrist. When you start having bad thoughts (about smoking that is...the others are ok), then give it a gentle ping.
cravings only last 3 mins. face it head on ,breathe ,distract yourself ,walk away.revisit your reasons for quitting, write them down. read lots of posts. especially the links.
the first law of addiction---theres no such thing as one cigarette............
many of us have tried to rewrite this law many times...........its not a suggestion its a law and its absolute ask anyone whos tried it .
