Day 11. haven't smoked. Not going to, really want to.

I've actually lost count of how many days it's been. Aargh! Brain work well no nicotine without. I counted Feb 25th as day 1, so I think it's 11 today.

I feel like i'm in a war of attrition. The cravings over the last day or two have been pretty constant. The good 'ol drinking straws are still the rock upon which the waves of craves break. Got a text from the NHS saying 'good luck with your quit'. Sent them one back saying 'have you got a light please'? Lord knows how they got my mobile number.

Got the in-laws arriving later today, so will spend all available time running around like headless chicken doing all the housework that I should have already done. You know it's time to do the dishes when you're reduced to drinking coffee from the gravy boat. At least it'll take my mind of the smokes.

Report from hospital - Missus is weak but comfortable. Too early to talk about coming home yet.

Onwards and upwards

Hi Hodges,

I take my hat off to you - or l would if l had one LOL :D You really do have my utmost respect  To stay smoke free when you are under so much stress, takes some doing  Keep up the good work, and by the time that your wife gets home, you will be flitting around the house like a whirling dervish - the house will be spotless :D

I'm glad that your wife is showing some improvement.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - another good tip for staving off the craves.

1. buy industrial strength toffee from sweetshop, and in moment of madness give one to your cat.

2. Spend next 15 mins rolling on floor laughing as cat sits absolutely motionless, futilely chomping said toffee after realising it can't move it's jaws from side to side.

Yes...yes...cruel I know, but hilarious to see. Cat was rescued and given fresh tuna by way of apology. (No toffees were harmed in the making of this post)

Hodge!

Have been looking for an update - glad to know your wife is recovering OK. And yet again, mad props to you for not caving.

The cat thing made me hoot. I think mine would never, ever forgive me for that even if I gave him fresh tuna for a month. He gives me evils just for being in the room sometimes.

Well done on the housework. Keep this up and we'll all club together and buy you a pink pinny and a feather duster.

I think we may have the same cat lol

Hodge,

well done for getting to day 11. Glad to hear your wife is recovering well. Housework is great way to pass the craves, just ask John and Camperpete, they will attest to it ;)

Good tip on the cat, think I will give one to next doors cat next time it ventures into my garden, save my cat having to go and beat it up again, fed up with tabby fur being all over the grass (the other cats not mine, he leaves his fur all over the house not the garden :p)

Stay strong. You are doing unbelievably well given the circs.
