Hi! New Quitter!

Hi Everyone!

So today is the day I quit smoking, my husband is quiting with me, I smoked 20 a day for 6 years and the reason I want to stop is because...

1. I am pregnant and expecting a baby boy in June

2. I just don't want to smoke anymore!

3. For the sake of my health

My hobby is knitting so I have prepared myself with loads of wool and patterns and hopefully make some lovely cardigans for my son!

Try and quit cold turkey if you can, NRT is still not good when pregnant and should be avoided if possible.

The NRT is from my Midwife.

It has been deemed safe for pregnant women aslong as it is monitored correctly.

Congratulations Sofie on both your baby boy and your quit. I think that having knitting as a hobby will be very useful in your quit. You need to have something to take your mind off cigarettes, and knitting is great because you are doing something with your hands and also concentrating.:cool:

Read as much as you can, follow the links on the signatures and educate yourself regarding quitting and stuff.

Brilliant, you're not the only knitter here (I beleive nuttynursee is quite good with the knitting needles) and I've just been bought a sewing machine and am busy sewing anything and I've discovered cross stitch, now that's bloomin addicitive - we could open up an NSD craft fair!!!!!!

Hels can do a bit of a show, Austin can do the music....the rest certainly know how to handle the food (:D).....

Anyway, I majorly digress. I hope you find this forum helps you, it's certainly been invaluable to a lot of us at times.

Exactly and it is better than smoking. I smoked through all three of my PG's and wish I'd had the guts to stop. So well done you !!!

So exciting having a boy. My boy will be 3 in June and he is just the best. I have 2 daughters as well but they are Daddies girl, they love me but Daddy is the best thing (I am not bitter, honest :D) but my boy, he loves Daddy but Mummy is the best

Quitting for your baby must be so motivating.... i'm no way near having a family yet but can't wait till i am..... you've just given me another reason to quit... if i do it now i won't have to do it when the time comes....
