I was reading on the 'why quit' link from someones post about triggers that remind us to smoke (can't find it now).
One of them was about eating.
The end of a meal is usually signified by us having a cigarette, with that trigger now gone then there's a danger of 1) we'll get an intense craving and/or 2) we'll continue to scoff (hence weight gain) as we've not had a ciggie to tell us the meal time is over.
I have to admit i'm guilty of (2) above so was wondering what other people do when they've finished a meal.
I like the tooth pick idea mentioned on why quit link, what do you guys do?

There was something I read a long time ago....just before my memory went
....oh yes, a long time ago...that highlighted an association between cigs and eating. We've stopped smoking and we are trying to build new habits. But if we were to then substitute eating for smoking we hadn't really broken the hand to mouth thing.
Stuff it....and I did...my mouth that is
Good job of keeping the other half busy though as nothing worse than a bored woman
Careful Pete
You dont want what happened to Andy Gray to happen to you!!!! Women are all valuable members of society who fully understand the offside rule and their technical skills are second to none.
Take my wife for instance, she can use the washing machine, hoover, iron, kettle, toaster........................
I think I covered that one up for you Pete, don't think anyone noticed your faux pas!!!!
Well done Helen... taking the high road and not even acknowledging the men talking... that's the way it should be!
I have to admit it's taken me a while (and 5kg!) to realise when I don't actually want to eat anymore. For months I had lots of sweet stuff to 'punctuate' the end of a meal.... I think I started cutting down making the desert a yoghurt, then a piece of fruit, then chewing gum, then tea and now I don't really feel like I need anything after I finish eating... it did take 3/4 months of over eating to get here tho.
Everything will happen in its own time... get the cravings for cigs under control and then you'll realise that talking food cravings is exactly the same (e.g. do I REALLY need to have that piece of cake? Will I be unhappy for the rest of my life if I don't? Nop :))
if i ate cereals with cold milk i didnt get and after meal craving so for the first week i just ate cereals for breakfast, lunch and dinner and lost half a stone now i am eating reasonably normally again i tend to have a yogurt afer a proper meal as long as its cold and dairy related it seems to work
