I'm just entering into day 8 now as stopped at 5.40pm on thursday so now officially day 8 and am having a really bad craving - thats why i'm here typing this to occupy myself for a minute or two, dont particularly want to go and clean the toilet like my OH suggested.

feeling better already as i am typing this. :)

I could just have one but I am not going to, or am i? nicotine is well out of my system now as went CT from the start and only had one spray of nasal spray yesterday and thats it.

perhaps i need to go out for a quick walk too!! see you in a a bit :o

Good for you - hope the walk helps. Do you know what prompted the crave?

You're not gonna have one cos you'll only be sorry - what would happen after, another and another? Stay strong:)

Why do we get cravings when there's no nicotine in the body - madness, and v unfair!

You did the right thing coming on here as talking (or typing in this case;)) gets that frustration out of your system and as you said you feel better already.

I've found i babble on to anyone when i get a bad craving, it helps take the edge off and before you know it the craving has passed.

Keep strong, keep focused and you'll get there.

thanks Lulabelle, didn't go for walk in the end

Was just sat watching TV and not really anything on that i wanted to watch, think that was the boredom trigger, have a ciggie and that will kill some time!

NOT paying attention to the stupid craving for something to fill a 2 or 3 minute gap in my life, why would I not feel bored after one? how utterly ridiculous when you think about it!!

171 hours and counting!!! think I will stop counting hours and move onto days when I get to 240 hours.

If there are any readers of this that are at the beginning of their journey on day 1,2 or 3 and are struggling, please believe it does get easier and yes, you do get bad days but having a fag will not really help you deal with any stress or make you feel any better when you think about it logically how can it???

Keep on breathing the fresh air :D :D :D

Well done!, if you can fight off that craving when under family stress (which can be some of the worse kind of stress) then you can do it anytime.

Why do we get cravings when there's no nicotine in the body - madness, and v unfair!

Because cravings are nothing to do with nicotine!

Cravings disappear when the smoker lights up, but that is because a craving is simply a mental prompt to repeat the habitual behaviour, triggered by the brain, not by falling nicotine levels, but experienced as a physical compulsive urge that seems to the smoker like a real bodily need. The craving disappears long before the cigarette is smoked and well before the seven second myth of nicotine to brain transit.

Staggeringly the craving is often gone without even lighting up although we'd still smoke the fag of course.... :(
