This forum is really helping, very positive environment. Just worked out the cost, and as a previous smoker of ciggies i rolled myself, havent saved as much as others as tobacco is a lot cheaper, but its still £25 a week. Its CRAZY. If i looked for a new phone contract i would NEVER buy one that was over £100 per calendar month, i couldnt afford it, yet i would burn away that money with no thought of it. At least with a phone i would have got unlimited calls, instead i chose to limit my health!
Day 6 still positive...: This forum is really... - No Smoking Day
Day 6 still positive...
Hi Toto!
I know, funny I was just thinking that last night. £100 per month is terrible terrible amount to have to spend on something that is ultimatley leaidng to a premature death. Just think over a year £1200, a wee second hand run around car. Thats what I think I am going to save for.
I was also thinking last night how much I have the Govt. for throwing how bad this is at us then making so much money off people who ultimatley are addicted. Anyway rant over. I think if everyone in the UK stopped smoking, the way the adverts are telling us, the govt. would be down even more money! *Sticks 2 fingers up at them*
Good luck with the rest of your day!
xx
It is odd how smokers always find the money for ciggies and ex-smokers always say they don't how they afforded to smoke
I think the cost savings are very visible in the interim but eventually get ate up the mist of rising costs of everything we buy and use
I think i'm defo going to try and save the money i'd spend on ciggies for as long as i can............ ie before the wife finds my secret stash of cash
I used to roll my own too - it's quite annoying because I want to do one of those counter thingies that show you how much money you've saved etc, and you get so many more to a packet with rollies, it's not nearly so dramatic!
However, never mind the cash, it's still better without the ash
Congrats on getting this far. Keep going!
Helen
WELL DONE ON GETTING TO DAY 6 i used to roll my own and because i used to buy the 50gram pouch i just worked out how many i smoked aday and how many days the pouch lasted me then add on the price of filters and papers (i used to get them of the market 5 for a £1 on the paper side) anyway if you do that you can soon work out by how much an average cost of a pack of ciggys will cost you and so far i personally have saved over £265 since i quit most of the money i have saved went on pressies for my grandsons and the money im saving now im saving towards days out with them in the summer
it is a really good idea to try and put some of the money aside just to give you a rough idea of what you are saving im sure one of the reasons smokers are willing to spend so much money on feeding there adiction and lining the pockets of the government was there must be something in the baccy that mindcontrols them to pay out so much money in the first place and given the time of year to go freeze/get wet outside and to smell disgusting
when i look back at how i used to be and think (when i was a smoker) its a very scary thought
