Six weeks done

Six weeks into the quit... It doesn't seem long enough somehow. Also, even though I don't have any cravings, I do need to keep myself in check. I'm as good at convincing myself one way as the other (either that or I have weak morals :D) It's not like I want to start again, but that dreaded "just one won't harm" thought is starting to rear its ugly head. I'm not about to cave in right now... I'm just very concerned that during a moment of (deliberately obscured) inattention it could happen at any moment.

Yikes!

Congrats on reaching 6 wks Michael, that's brilliant (am 6 weeks on Friday, can't come soon enough!!)

I can totally relate though - it doesn't seem long enough for some reason! Maybe it's because, esp in the first few weeks, you're counting almost every minute without a fag and people are very conscious of your quit and asking how you're doing, how many days it is etc, whereas now it's becoming 'the norm' so to speak (this is the way it feels for me anywho!)

I'd be amazed if the majority of quitters don't get that 'one won't hurt' thought more than once, and i think once your original quit date becomes more of a distant memory it's more likely to seem like a good idea. Stay strong though, we all know that 'just one' will turn in to 'just a 10 pack' or 'just at the weekends' and then before we know it you're back to the drawing board with a wheezey chest, smelly fingers and yellowing teeth!

Remember what you did in those first few weeks to beat the cravings (post on her, sweets, knitting, whatever!) and go back to that. Plus, how good do you feel when you do get that evil thought or craving and you don't give in - i know i feel bl00dy brilliant!!

:D

Why would you say that Michael???

I'll be celebrating 6 weeks free next week, and certainly wouldn't want to celebrate with a cigarette. If you think your quips are amusing and helpful, think again.

Well done on your quit so far, Rachel! I found this forum immensely helpful and hope you do as well!

Michael, why didn't you leave your previous post about the sense of humour on? Is that you admitting that you can sometimes be a tad harsh?

Ok, so I must just be imagining things then. Silly me!

Congrats to you and Rachel on your quits, I found it difficult between 6-8 weeks so I hope it's better for you than it was for me :)

That's great that you feel like you will have turned a corner, I know it always seems as if you breeze through your quit but I'm sure everyone has hard times.

Luckily, I no longer see the perceived pleasures of smoking at all so I'm quite happy about that. I feel sorry for people who quit without realising that any benefits are just perceived ones as the will power it must take for them is amazing!

6 weeks today for me too - hell yeah!! Am celebrating by going to work (3rd job, bar) to smell stale smoke on peoples clothes, lush :) Might make it more interesting by stealing lighters and hiding fag packets ;)

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Haha, thats great jenni! And it really is funny to watch what a smoker's reaction is when their amazing cigs are gone! i know i was like that at one time.

Merry xmas for yesterday to everyone! Xx

3 jobs means a stressful life, so hence why smoking was such a crutch. Have got loads more energy now though so working the 3 jobs is not such a drain.

Micheal i love it, to the joke shop i go !!
