Low fat patches tomorrow

Hi everyone,

Just popped in to say that I'm dropping from 'semi-skimmed' (14mg) to 'low fat' (7mg) patches tomorrow :). I'll be on them for two weeks then I go 'naked' :p.

I'm very excited at the prospect. I'm currently on day 53 of my quit and I've never felt so positive about my chances of success. Thoughts of smoking are very fleeting now and I don't feel particularly antsy or anxious anymore.

I'd just like to reiterate how grateful I am to everyone on the forum who's directly or indirectly helped me through the tough times and rejoiced with me during the high points. Without you I don't think I'd have made it.

I know I've been a bit absent from the forum recently. That's mainly because I don't need to rely on it as much now and talking about smoking tends to remind me of smoking (duh!!). I'd prefer to forget that I ever started!! That doesn't mean that I'll vanish completely though. I'll still pop in from time to time, but I feel I need to move on now. I also have a new special person in my life and that's keeping me busy!!

So, good luck to everyone. If I can quit my previous 25-30 a day habit, anyone can!!

But just don't go disappearing completely will you :mad: (coz i will get upset as you are my quit bud)

Am glad you have found some one special, we all need that in our lives and hopefully this will deter you from ever returning to smoking again.!!

Oh Snowie my quit bud!!! I'll not be far away :). I just don't feel the need to post daily any more. I'll definitely post for significant milestones and I'll be watching out for you especially :). You don't get rid of me that easily!!

Going well on the lowest strength patches. I haven't had a full-on urge to smoke for ages now although I still get fleeting thoughts. I suspect I'll always have them but they're easily disposed of if I stay alert.

It's so great not to be dictated to by tubes of burning leaves even though I still structure my day around my previous smoking needs by leaving longer for journeys and the suchlike so I can have a cig :o. The plus side is that I'm never late for anything :D.

Thank you for your best wishes with my new partner. It's going very well and as she's a lifelong non-smoker she's not providing any triggers for me!! She only knows me as a non-smoker and I intend keeping it that way. I've told her I quit relatively recently though.

I'll have done 8 weeks at 6pm tonight and that's just amazing to me. Only 8 weeks ago I could barely go an hour without having a cig and I sincerely thought I needed them to survive. I now know that I can actually live quite happily without them and in fact I feel so much better. Yes, my journey to this point had a couple of very low points where I could so easily have caved, but I'm so grateful I persevered and came out the other side victorious. This forum has been worth its weight in gold to me!!!

How wonderful to have someone so close to you in your life that doesn't know you as a smoker You should try to see youself through her eyes if you ever get a bad crave. Good to hear the craves are down to minimal fleeting thoughts. Not sure you'll have them for the rest of your life but it's great that you're on guard just in case

My quit's holding very strong and the new lady in my life is an added incentive to stay 'clean' ;).

I'm really in a good head place now, and I'm sure I can stay off the fags for good this time.
