Dear All.

I am now on day 22 ct and today I have so longed for a cig,I do not think that I would have gone and bought any, beacuse my other half would have caused me so much grief.

But feel like sneaking out and having one.

Went to a national trust house to see the autumn trees truley wonderful, but all I did was complain and carp and then having great fits of manacial laughter.

Is it just coming off the cis or am I going mad.

Snowie by the way just read your post,WELL DONE that is soo good. Ithink I may have lit the old roll up.

Evening Tell :)

Well ... well done on day 22, thats fantastic !!

Its funny because thats exactly how i have been feeling today, i could really have done with lighting up and how i didnt i just cant explain!!

Maybe something has finally clicked in my brain at long last ?? and maybe thats the same for you too as to why you never went out and had one too... well done, so proud of you for staying strong xx

As for your changes in your mood.... thats definately part of giving up the cigs!!

all that should pass soon, but hey im sure we are allowed to have a mixture of emotions after all we are giving up something that is very hard to do.

thanks for the well done to me.... hubby's face was a picture when he picked it up and realised that it had gone a shitty brown colour and was damp!!

stay strong, we CAN fight this XXXXXXX

Hi Tell

Like Snowie i wanted to congratulate you on Day 22 :) and also for not giving in today, that shows great determination and strength, so well done, my friend.

Also as for the feeling daft etc i dont know what came over me yesterday but i had a hospital appt and for some reason i was exactly the same but i actually told the consultant that i am feeling a little loopy and spaced out since stopping smoking and he just laughed, thank goodness. I have also had a bit of a warped and weird sense of humor with my OH who is an ex smoker and used to tell me to go and have a cig then moan about it and take the p**s but u see now he cant and so i find im the one taking the p**s and its kinda funny cos im having the last laugh now. Ha ha ;)

I dont know but it is kinda funny and unlike u 2 im only on day 11. Anyhow keep it up my friend cos its great to hear that your doing so well and thats aimed at both of you.

Well done. :)

Hello,

This is my first post, i've not used a forum before so I hope i'm in the right place... I have been quietly looking to this forum for support over the past few weeks since I quit (18/10/2010) cold turkey. I have not had any blips so far but I'm feeling a bit scared that something is waiting for me to mess up.

This is the first time I've quit properly in 18 years so its all kind of new to me, I had 2 other half hearted attempts with patches and cold turkey over the years, but I kept having puffs every now and then on other peoples cigs, so both of those attempts didnt last long (a few weeks) fooling myself that i'd quit. This time round is the longest I've been quit properly ever without even one single puff.

The things people have said on this site are really helpful :) & Some things which I expected to happen when quitting havent... like eating lots and putting on weight, I wonder if that is yet to come?

I feel so much better like I'm not a slave to the nicotine in the morning especially and all the smells, mess, expense, etc etc. I'm a bit fearful that it seems, so far, to have been easy to quit for me right now .... Is there something around the corner that I dont know about that is going to throw me off course? Any help you can give will be gratefully received.

First off Tell, well done for not giving in and not smoking!!! You are at the 3 week point which is a danger zone (remember the 3's, 3 days 3 weeks 3 mths) I'm 21 days today and have had a bit of it this afternoon and a huge bit when my husband was being a pratt and wound me up. We both got through it and I am proud of both of us. :D

Second, Freeatlast2010,

Hi and welcome to the site. well done to you getting this far. Your just 4 days behind me.

I think your comment about it being just a bit too easy this time hits a massive ring of truth for me to. I am the same, bar a couple of bad days its been easy. You want to know why? Because this is our right time to quit. I have had 2 real attempts and a few half hearted and it was always a struggle for me. This time though its really not been so bad. I just don't want to smoke anymore I hate it, it taste bad, smells bad and I may aswell just set fire to the £100 per month I spent on it.

There is a group of us that quit in october, your more than welcome to come and join us, just follow this link and it will take you to the group forum.nosmokingday.org.uk/g...

Thank you so much for replying everyone ~ I have read about the 3's so I will be on more my guard now, thanks for reminding.

Quitting is completely different to what I really imagined, its like being scared of something thats new to you and putting off doing it again and again and then when you do it, you get some enjoyment out of it and its not so bad.

I'll join the October Club & thankyou for the invitation

Hi Michelle. Welcome to the forum and the October 2010 Group :).

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. It's a fantastic thing you're doing and one you won't regret! I'm very pleased that you're finding it easy this time but do be aware that the nicodemon can bite very hard from out of the blue! It's at those times that the forum becomes a lifeline. We've all had those 'every nerve screaming out for a cig' episodes. If you experience them, come here and rant away!! Someone will be around to offer support and encouragement.

There's a good chance that you will gain weight. Try to be conscious that you might be substituting eating at times when you'd previously smoke. Also, smoking speeds up the body's metabolism so cessation causes a metabolic slowdown meaning that you're likely to gain weight even if you eat the same as before. My personal view is to be aware of all this but not to stress too much about it. Getting off the cigs and being comfortable with it is the important thing right now. You don't want the added pressure of continually watching what you eat too!!! As I mentioned, just be aware of it. You can deal with any weight issues when you're not focussing so much on staying off the cigs.

Anyway, enough of me raving on :p.

Good luck with your quit Michelle. Stay strong and focussed and you can do it this time!!!

Ed xx

Im so glad to see other folks have been going a bit MAD too.

I have found, especially at work, where I am feeling a bit left out, cos Im not outside smoking with them, that I am hyper and talking a bit rubbish at times??

Glad its not just me : )

The weight thing, I have put on loads of weight, and have gone up at least one size. I had planned for this and lost over a stone before stopping. I have been eating like a proper piggy since stopping but I know I am quite good at dieting and thats another problem for another day.

I see this is where the crave party is happening? LOL

Day 22 here :)

and crave I do, but hmm, maybe its just habit thinking, not really anything physiological.

Welcome to the October Quitters Michelle!! Coming here when you crave is just awesome.

I admire the people who seem to HAVE cigs and not smoke them, I would never be able to do that. If I HAD any, they'd be smoked... ugh.

Funny thing yesterday at the doc. Had some issues (female) and had to have this checked out. She asks after a while, any OTHER CHANGES lately in your life? I'm like, hmm, not really, uhmmm, I dunno... hmmmmm

then my face lit up, half naked as I was... and tell her I STOPPED SMOKING 3 weeks ago. She's like, ok that'll do it (regarding my issues) and we proceed to have a half party in that room, slapping hands and all (half naked as I was... LOL) It was really neat sortof and pretty funny :)

and with what some other people said: yes, some days it just does seem too easy doesn't it? and it makes you weary of something going to come and take you away or something like that.,... ;)
