lets try this again

I previously gave up smoking for 3 years and then after having my 2nd child couldnt get rid of the craving so started again.

In 5 more hours i will have already done the first 24 hours. Struggling though and dont think i have ever drunk so much juice and eaten so much fruit as a distraction in my life. I think my biggest problem is routine (for example just finished preparing dinner time for a cigarette hence i am now browsing the internet and found this forum). just looking forward to my sister arriving in an hour so i have an evening of distraction. Wanted to say hello and soon be on day 2

Welcome to the forum and a great decision Lot for giving it another go. After 3 years quit you know it's worth it, and you know it will get better. I'll do a deal with you, after you've been quit another 3 years if you decide you want to smoke again I'll give you 50pence, are you on? David

That so made me laugh:D

Welcome Lotte, you know better than any of us the huge rewards being a non smoker brings. Due to the fact I have faith in you, I will double (yes double) Dave's offer and give you a pound!!

Good luck

....I think my biggest problem is routine (for example just finished preparing dinner time for a cigarette hence i am now browsing the internet and found this forum)...

Routine is pretty much the problem full stop. 10 a day smokers don't quit easier than 30 a day smokers, their routine just crams less fags in!

Finding distractions and making adjustments to your routine in the early days are crucial but luckily only temporary. You soon just re-learn your old routines without the little fag breaks.

24 hours smoke free means you're roughly a third of the way towards stripping the nicotine residue from your system but rapidly approaching the bizarre period of coping with the extra oxygen your brain is getting.

Feelings of sudden euphoria and slight intoxication during the day, bizarre dreams and middle of the night alertness are usually reported. Often mistaken for some junkie withdrawal symptom it's just your brain adapting to the better fuel.

Not unpleasant but disturbing if you don't know about it.

At 72 hours you get a prize.... :)

First 3 days are defo the hardest...I totally changed my routine for those days...I had it planned and didn't suffer the craving due to keeping busy at the right time. Reading books and websites helped... Allan Carr's EASYWAY went along way to getting me on track, and for me, got rid of the illusion that I enjoyed smoking.

You are doing GREAT!!! Look forward to being free and enjoy not stinking of fags.

I too have children which I look after full time at the minute and it's so much easier as a non smoker. And I don't have to feel guilty 24 hours a day :)

best wishes

rob

Thanks for all the support. My lovely 6 year old turned round to me this morning while eating her breakfast and asked me why i wasnt in the garden with my cup of tea i couldnt help but laugh. I have been doing lots of reading it is occupying me well. I run a charity and have a big meeting at my house tomorow so the cleaning is keeping me out of routine today and tomorow my routine is out of the window. Just tomorow night to think about when i am going out for a friends 30th but look forward to having a voice sunday morning ( i smoke to much normally when i drink)

This guy gave me a boost to realise suffering from 'NOT SMOKING' might not be that bad compared to what others have to go through.

Made me realise I need to make my own decisions and get off my own backside to get on with my own life. And stop waiting for things to happen.
