How flaming rude...

Some people are just so rude... A work colleague asked if I was going for a smoke. No thanks I said I don't smoke anymore. She said that's good how long have you been quit. Nearly a week this time I said. Oh well done she said.

THEN another work colleague who overheard this conversation said do you want a fag I have got a spare if you want and started laughing I just said no thanks. Then he knocked on my office door and asked if I had a light and went away laughing like an idiot as though he had just heard an hilarious joke.

Some people!!

What (some) smokers hate most? The strong people who have resigned their clan and no longer make them feel ok about smoking. The strong people who are the proof that it is possible to quit. What can they do... try and make you feel as bad about quitting as they are feeling about smoking. But you know better!!!

They're jealous. They haven't got the guts, willpower, and knowhow to stop successfuly. They can't stand that you might actualy succeed.

And they also find it 'funny' that they're teasing you, as they know it is difficult.

Ignore them, they're idiots.

I know just a complete and utter numpty... who needs to grow up. I wanted to tell him that but though if I reacted he would winnd me up even more as would think the quitting was getting to me so I chose not to give him a reaction and just ignore him.

Just couldn't believe what complete and utter sh*ts some peeps are, I would never do that to anyone quitting.

Infact I was talking today to a guy who said he quit smoking 12 years ago. I said 12 years that is amazing. I asked if he ever thought of them or felt like one he said no never but that he did dream that he smoked occassionally. There is hope for us all yet :D

That's the best thing to do with people like that guy.

If someone said to me they were quitting, I'd say well done, ask them how they're getting along etc.

But he's simply jealous that you're doing this.

I would have never of acted like that when I smoked and your work mate is very rude.

I was never jealous of someone who had given up, and that is why I would never berate someone for smoking now. It's all about respect and it's obvious that some people do not have any.

Good to see you Tinks, you are doing very well my lovely xx:)

I agree with everyone else- he was jealous.

Also savuton is right- smokers hate anyone who makes them feel that smoking isnt ok.

Keep it up, you will be having the last laugh!!

That's exactly it - smokers can't stand being made to feel like what they're doing is wrong. I only quit a few days ago, so it's still very fresh in my memory how I felt when someone would criticise me for smoking, or even if I met someone that I used to enjoy smoking with but who has now quit. I'd sit there with so much admiration/jealousy for the person but still couldn't bring myself to quit. It's almost as though I thought I didn't deserve to.

It makes you feel like a failure, and I imagine that's what happened with your workmate. Poor sod.

Smile sweetly and say, it’s ok I will come visit you and bring you flowers when you finally succumb to the inevitable smoking related disease you will most definitely get, and walk away.

Ok so that’s maybe not the way to deal with someone who hasn’t got the use of a brain cell today, we shouldn’t mock the afflicted, should we!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

You are doing fantastic and he will eventually realise you are bigger than him and he will be so jealous.

You keep the quit strong and know that he will laugh on the other side of his face very soon.

As tempting as it is to do that, lol, I agree that we shouldn't 'mock the afflicted'. These people will learn for themselves, just as we have; whether or not they learn too late remains to be seen.

I feel a little uppity passing comment on anyone else at the moment anyway, as I've only been off the things for five days. On the other hand, that's five days free of my own personal killer. So yeah, it's worth something!
