Hi all

Just found this place and thought i'd register to keep me focused on quitting.

I'm on day 14 of Champix and been smoke free for 6 days now. Barely have any cravings but I do think about cigs occasionally but never really tempted.

The only real side effects I've had from Champix so far are nausea after the first one of the day, and on the occasions I've gone out drinking my tolerance seems to have vanished meaning I was plastered!

Slightly concerned about the weight gain side effect as I keep myself fit but so far I've actually lost weight and I haven't noticed any change in my eating habits - if anything I eat healthier now.

Keep the faith.

    Hi Cityboy

Firstly well done on your quit so far :) like you I didn't really have any major side effects but I did notice my alcohol tolerance dropped big time - my OH was happy cos I turned into a cheap date :D I've been off the champix for a while now and still get a bit tipsy quite quickly :o

I was determined not to put on weight so started to cut out the bad foods once I quit but found my eating habits changed anyway - started eating breakfast so that I could take my morning tab and I'm sure that stopped me putting much on - gained a bit in the first month then lost it again in the second :D

Keep posting - good to hear how you're doing

  • Hi cityboy

day 6 is over now..your first week almost done, you must feel good :) nice to meet you :)

  • Day 7 going well no cravings at all.

I was slightly queasy before going to the gym this morning but other than that it's all good.

I can already feel my lung capacity improving - I did weights for an hour then ran the 3 miles home which I would usually feel in my chest and breathing but it is much improved after only 7 days. This is incentive enough for me to carry on with the quit.

    :)
