I dont know about anyone else on here but when I was a smoker (nearly 6 months stopped)..my gums appeared to be dissapearing and turning black. No matter how many times I brushed and flossed I was still having problems. Now I have stopped smoking my gums are beginning to repair themselves but I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem??

Teeth and gum problems
Yep, had the same problems....
No problems 6 months ago (well none that I knew of really) apart from a loose front tooth. My dentist at the time did not say there was anything wrong...
When I changed dentists (cos I wasn't really happy with my old one) he told me to pack up smoking or I would lose some if not all of my teeth within 10 years. Some of this is down to a hereditary thing, but mostly to do with smoking.....
My dad apparently had false teeth in his forties and he smoked all his life!!
This gave me the kick up the backside to stop, but since stopping my gums constantly bleed and I seem to get some sort of "gunk" on my pillow in the morning (sorry to be graphic!!) - I'm assuming it is my body clearing out...
have now been quit for 2.5 months and this is still happening...
