……Just got back from hols in France. I hadn’t given it the slightest thought in terms of quitting before I left, but almost as soon as I hit French shores I remembered that when in France I scrap the rollies and buy a lot of strong tailor mades….Treacle strong French coffee for breakfast- no fag, fresh pain au choc-no fag. Mornings sitting around in the sunshine, or walking in the Countryside- still no super strong French fag. There was also no super strong fag after a lunch of bread and super strong cheese. Then in the evening- hearty food, a bottle of good Bordeaux and still no freaking fag.

The hol was fab, but I was counting down for it to be over, as every day I survived was like getting through the first few days of the quit all over again. I live (smoke free) to tell the tale- but blimey, all that effort I’ve put into how I’ll deal with a smoke free Festival….I should have been planning smoke free France. I wanted to spend the whole time moaning but went for silent stoicism- not coz I’m a martyr but because I thought if I ventured into the “hell, I need a smoke” all I would have been doing is subconsciously asking for permission to light up. I’m never going to France again….ever

Lol Pols, you will go to france, because now you have done the going to france without smoking experience. I just did a holiday camping without smoking experience. It's just a trigger. Your brain thinks-holiday-good times- i smoked when i had good times(and bad times and just average times....)-i should smoke now or i won't be able to enjoy things(how ridiculous) m

I still have the festy hurdle to overcome which will be a big one.

Cheers Pols!

We're planning a trip to see the in-laws in France later this year and now I'm just thinking that I'll never get to see my beloved Gauloises Blondes ever again. Warm baguette, strong brie and vino but no fag :(

Well at least I can mentally prepare myself now.

Well done for making it though.

Sorry Pookie- it probably wasn't that awful at all- I just seem to have become a bit of a drama queen Princess about this quitting thing...Jude's right though, it's not the Gauloises that's amazing but the hol, time out, being with family etc etc, the association is just this very annoying thing that kicks around far too bloody long....

You've not gone long now Jude til your festi, how you feeling about it? I'm still not sure if I'm excited about it ot horrified at the prospect of it without a cig
