Enough to keep me quit !

Went shopping today to spend my hard saved smoking money but found myself watching smokers wherever I went

If you stop and look at smokers they really don't look happy - skin is grey, hair is dry, eyes dull and worrying about where the next ash tray is. I could have quite easily gone and joined them for one - especially as I found nothing to buy  but to be honest I'm so happy to not be one of those people huddled around a stinking ash tray outside a shopping centre. Life is so much nicer without having to worry about when you can next feed your addiction

Next time you're flagging stop and have a really good look at anyone smoking near you - it will keep you on the straight and narrow.

hi pookie

I really do have to ditto that ....such a nice place to be not needing to stop at every opportunity to have a smoke ...its enough to think you would like to join them ...Loved reading that thanks ...Inconvenience was on my quit list..reminding me :)

Thanks Pooks.

We all like nice reminders like that. it is an addiction, a form of weakness to some degree. Giving up is like joining the AA and admitting ones powerlesness over such a substance and allowing a higher good to remove it.

Yep they are all sad, gotta quit to be able to see it. :)

Pookie - you are so right. I seem to notice smokers more now and it does give me a reality check to think that only 3 months ago I was one of them!

I have a habit of doing that lately, awlking into town at lunchtime and just looking at all the smokers.....

And yes, I do look...but I also think I DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE...and I carry on with what I was doing. Totally agree about not having to worry where or when you can nip out for a fag.....Free at last!!

Today I thought about the D word ...& i thought how if i was really old would it really matter if i still smoked & would it be worth packing in at say 80 years old or something ...then i thought ..you know wot of course it would.....a slow & painful D isnt a nice thought wotever age & not something anyone would want to go through really is it..........So that thought today was enough to keep me quit. DEEP i know soz

Dont mind pookie do you ..hijacking ure thread with thoughts xxx:D

Glad everyone found my ramblings useful :D

Hijack away kitkat - I've been stuck at work all day and the NHS don't like us looking at the web so I didn't know you were anyway :p I'd been having lots of D thoughts too - one of my reasons for quitting and staying quit.

It was enough to keep me quit today when i felt breathless walking home from school coz of the humid.......How worse would that be if i still smoked
