80 days & feeling SO good

Afternoon all my little quit buddies,

Today is my 80th day of being free of the dreadfull weed & all it's associated chemicals :D No more drowning feeling in my chest. Constantly coughing to clear my chest & throat. No more purple toes just cute little pinkies. No more panful cramp in my legs & feet. No more stained teeth & fingers. No disgusting smell following me wherever I go. No panic & stressing about when I can have that next 'fix'. No more fighting for breathe at the slightest exertion. I HAVE FOUND FREEDOM.

I have also found more confidence & am more relaxed now I do not rely on nicotine to get me through the day. I don't smoke, am losing weight, am looking after ME & feel brilliant. I wish I could bottle it & give it to everyone to see them through the bad times. Just remember you can feel like this also. Just give it time, throw everything you have at your quit & come out the other side feeling strong & oh, so proud of your achievement.

I am putting some of my quit money towards paying for eye laser surgery next week. Could not have afforded it otherwise.

I like the new confident, strong me that has emerged from this quit. She was there all along I know, have had glimpses of her before but she tended to get drowned by being a smoking 'junkie'.

Sooooooooo, here is a toast to all of us here, no matter where we are in our quits, to a long, happy, quit free, confident & strong life for ourselves & our loved ones :D

Awww, thanks Jamangie, what a lovely thing to say :D

I still had a choice, I could have just said blow it & carry on & died an early painfull death. Some people even faced with severe ill health will still carry on smoking. I decided that I & my family deserved better than that & want to do all I can to be here for as long as possible :D As I tell my OH every so often when I look at my quit meter, there, you will have to put up with me for another week (or whatever) now!!

I am looking forward to the laser surgery, well the end results anyway ;)

Loads of hugs back, Gaynor xxx

Hi Nickiw,

If it made you feel good & positive than that's brilliant to hear. Heed your dentist as I didn't years ago & lost teeth through gum disease due to smoking. They don't say it for the sake of it LOL. How long are you quit?

Loved reading your post, gives us newbies in our quit so much hope. I am slowly overcoming how to deal with stress and learning I CAN do this without smoking! I'm looking forward to when I can post just like you!

Congratulations!

Thanks Mic.

Whenever I felt really stressed I would take deap breathes in & out. Remove myself from the situation if possible. Always remember that a ciggie will not make a situation any better or change it, you just think it will but it doesn't. What it does do is just make you feel bad & guilty as you have broken your quit. I have found the longer I am quit the calmer I am anyway & deal with stress (mostly) better anyway. You can post milestones whenever you want. Doesn't matter what day, week, month. If YOU feel good share it :D;)

A great, inspirational post to read. Gives hope and positive thoughts to those who may be struggling.

I've noticed since joining the forum that you see a lot of new quitters on day 1, 2, 3 etc and they sound so positive its great but then you dont see them again, such a pity. Reading posts like this certainly add to my resolve and your positivity will I'm sure help at least a few grumpys pull themselves out of the doldrums (me included)

PS if anyone reads this could you please tell me how I put my information on my post ie when I quit etc, its at the bottom of peoples posts and i cant figure out how to do it i'm a bit of a forum virgin!

Thank you x

A massive well done to you. I love how the positivity contrasts through from Day 1 to the latter stages of the quit. Shows the rest of us that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Glad that my teeth experience is enough to put you off going through the same thing LOL. I was told that in my early twenties & guess what, he was right. Believe me smoking is not worth the pain & discomfort. You are only a wee bit behind me & are doing brilliantly. Keep it up, just imagine a gummy smile staring back from the mirror if you ever crave :p

Thank you Jackie, your supprt is unwavering & very much appreciated.

I did Know what the laser surgery entailed & that is what put me off even more than the cost. Decided to go & find out how much it would be, got a good deal & booked it! Will all be over this time next week :D Will let you know when I am able to use laptop how it goes :D
