Finally I'm a non-smoker...

Hello Everyone,

Only my second post here, as only found out about this yesterday when i was at a serious low, and needed the help and advice off other people quitting and have already quit.

Well i am taking Champix, they have so far succeeded in making me extremely moody and a little depressed, and feeling extremely nauseous a lot of the time, but if they succeed in helping me quit smoking then i suppose i can put up with the side-effects.

I'm only 20, although i have been smoking 10-15 a day for the last 5 years, and i would like to have a career in the police force so i thought i should quit sooner rather than later.

I would have normally had about 5 or 6 cigarettes by now, and i feel good for not having had them.

Not really sure what the point of this thread is, but thought i would air my thoughts and let everyone know a little bit about who i am.

Regards,

Becci x

Hello,

I am sorry if i didn't make it clear, I am on day 1 of quitting, and day 11 of taking the Champix.

Just came across my first hurdle...my housemate smokes and just went out for a cigarette without me...and i smelt it and it made me feel sick instantly!

A good sign i think...

It's really nice to have had such positive support from everyone,

Thanks to you all...

Still going strong, nearly a whole day done...and many more to come...very proud of myself already though, as didn't think i could go an hour or so let alone nearly 24 hours! No tears today which i am happy about, probably because i have been finding things to keep me busy...

Thanks again everyone xxx :)

go you girl you can do it

few tips from me...hope they help

i had some sruggles within the 1st week (ie craves) but then it started to get easier, i also experinsed alot of hunger, so what i did was

keep my fingers busy, take your mind off cigs, even pop on here if u like,

regarding the hunger, i took up a new addiction of custard creams, the tesco value ones are a bargin, 30p for a 400G pack, i was stuffing my face with them any time of day and night, even at like 2am

if your friends know your quitting (which judging by your signate they do)

tell them your quitting and tell them (if they smoke) too quit as well and the support for you lot will be better, if they dont want to quit tell them that you DONT want to be offerd any cigs if you have craves

sleeping, i didnt really sleep much while i was a smoker but ive been trying to get too sleep at around midnight to 1am too try and imporve (as friends complain its bad for my health going to sleep at 3 - 4am and up for about 9 - 10am ish), sleeping will most probably become a challenge, only thing i suggest is sleeping pills or do some exercise that will make you tierd

hope this helps you

Day 2

So i have made it to day 2 without having a cigarette, and am finding it surprisingly easy...although this may be because i have not put myself in the difficult situation of needing a cigarette...

Although i did wake up this morning thinking i had screwed it all up, as i had dreamt that i had had a secret cigarette, but couldnt keep it a secret anymore...not going to worry too much as have others have written that with the Champix it can bring with it very vivid dreams and strange sleep patterns.

How is everyone getting on today...I am feeling pretty positive :)

i did think the same bout coming on here its not usually my thing, but it has helped a little and now when i see `ive failed` in a thread it just makes me even more determined never to touch a ciggy again.. i can log off feeling pretty smug with me self :D :D :D ...................................:D

Same as that really, funny to think how people you've never met can influence your quit because you don't want to let them down!

Forums were never really my thing, but this one has been invaluable - thanks everybody! :)

Day 4

Sorry, wasn't able to get on yesterday as had a busy day...

So day 4 now, finding it surprisingly easy to be honest, am still having the crazy vivid dreams but i can put up with them if i am going to stop smoking.

Started realising how much money i am going to save, and am looking forward to booking a holiday in the summer at some point with the money i have saved.

Hope everyone is feeling ok...xxx :D

I know what you mean.

I am now over a year since I gave up. Every time I tried before would fail.

This forum as been such a help to keep on the straight and narrow.

Congrats Bexy it does get easier the longer to go without. There are times when you'll want one and really crave.

There is always someone here willing to help you

Yep - same here! Always thought forums were for 'weirdo's':p Sorry no offence anyone lol!! But this has been great - I quit 20 days ago and when I've had a difficult day I've posted or looked through the threads and found it comforting to find other people in the same position, and then found them in the penthouse, then I know there's light at the end of the tunnel:)

Had my own little mini epiphany today - talking to a friend and told her I'd given up smoking when she started laughing - I got a bit annoyed but then she asked me exactly what had I given up? I was a bit confused at first, but then the penny dropped and I realised what she was getting at - and do you know what? I haven't 'given up' ANYTHING, I've just stopped a really nasty, bad, smelly, expensive, health ruining habit :D

Anyway, that's my 2 pennies worth x

Starting to loose count of how many days its been now, feels like it was ages ago, even though it was only 9.

Yes it is crazy to think that that is all we have given up, and now we are all lovely non-smokers!

Still having very crazy vivid dreams, with not all being good, but oh well!

Worked out that i must have saved about £34.02 already which is amazing!

Hope everyone is ok xx

Actually Vicstar I like the fact that I’m a weirdo it makes me different from everyone else lol and how right everyone is that this forum is a quit maker and not using it can be a quit breaker.

You are doing so well and having to live in the same house as a smoker it cannot be easy, me I am lucky enough to have a never smoked OH and he has been a great support for me.

If you have the opportunity to come on here and post you will make a lot of good friends, a while ago I would never have considered saying that about an internet site but after being on here three months I class some as friends and hope they see me in the same vein.

So good luck in your quit and look forward to speaking to you again.
