I'm on day 6 too and i also had a very restless night. I'm doing this cold turkey, so i can't blame the patches!

Well done for getting this far - Almost a week!!

Well done Fallen Angel & Edders.

Almost your first week done & dusted ;)

The sleeping thing will settle soon I promise. It's not nice having to cope with quitting & lack of sleep I know but it is so worthwhile.

Keep it up & keep smiling :D

Day 6 for me too angel, and my sense of smell has woken up as well!

Had a really bad afternoon and evening yesterday, ended up going to bed at 9 as I couldn't stand it any more, but cravings have eased off this morning and feeling much better again:)

Same probs with the sleeping though - isn't it weird? Still, at least it's not the coughing that's waking me up any more, just the dreams!!

Can't believe it's been nearly a week :D

Brilliant to read all of these posts! Big well done to you all! I used a herbal sleep type tablet for a few nights to break the sleepless night rollercoaster in the end. That worked well for me.

Interesting about the herbal sleeping tablets - I've been using Kalms, which are a herbal tablet for stress anxiety etc....seem to be helping a bit as I am def not as irritable or emotional as some of the poor people who have been posting, and it was my TOTM was well:)

Maybe it was the fags that were making me so stressy and grouchy:confused:

Anyway, all good today, and roll on tomorrow when I can say I have been fag free for a whole week:D

..smelly old world!

... the weirdest thing, back end of last week, getting the bus i found the smell of whatever disinfectant they use to clean it almost overpowering and I've never noticed it before. ... until a smoker gets on. GOD - you can smell a smoker a bloody mile off....that used to be us!!!

i'm with fiona - i've resorted to boots sleepeaze tablets; work a treat.

I haven't bumped into a smoker yet but i'm curious to see how bad they smell.

My grump has lifted and i'm really getting on with life. I'm loving 'not smoking'. I want to tell the world! Actually i have been telling people and this is the responses i've been getting.

The non smokers say; 'great - good for you - really proud of you'.

The EX smokers say; 'it's the best thing you'll ever do - be strong and don't be tempted to go back'.

The smokers; (In a non meaningful tone) say; 'oh...thats great good for you' (but then suddenly sounding meaningful) 'oh you'll go back to it, you know you will, people aways do, it never lasts, oh well good luck' and then laugh!:mad:

The smokers comments make me more determined. So stick it :p

I've definitely found that my sense of smell is immense now! Went to my mum's house on sunday (both my mum and dad smoke in the house) and it made me want to smoke just so I couldn't smell it anymore!

Interesting to hear about the reactions other people have had from smokers/non-smokers. So far I've had:

Non-smokers: 'Won't be long before you're smoking again, you'll never do it'. 'Don't understand why you still feel bad, its been days now!' some do say well done though.

Smokers: 'Don't you think you've chosen a bad time to give up' (because I'm going to be moving house and in a show next month) and 'you only smoke 10 a day anyway, don't think that will do you much harm!'

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum but have been reading your messages since last Wednesday the day I stopped smoking with champix. Day 6 today and had a bad day taken a glass of wine so I won't be tempted to drive out to get ciggies from the garage:confused:

Hi Juliana,

Good for you getting to day 6. Sorry you have had a bad day today. Just remember a ciggie won't change anything, make it better or go away. Have your glass of wine & an early night & hey presto, it will be day 7 :D

Yep i agree, wine then bed. ;)

Actually wine doesn't taste as nice since i stopped smoking. Champagne instead daaahling?....... lol

Not smoking has made me either nutty or over confident. Please excuse my craziness but it's my way of coping. (I'm this mad little jogger) lol
