Day 4 - Fantastic Success, considering lowering NRT dosage?

I took off the patch last night before bed and slept. Slept well. Got up craving VERY badly though this morning so on went a patch and had a lozenge.

Worked through the day so that helped but I only had the patch on and that one lozenge in the morning and it lasted me all day until I got home at half 6.

Really feeling I'm progressing now and I'm gonna go for a short jog tomorrow, maybe even not use lozenges if possible whilst not working. If I can succeed in this, I'm going to request to go to step 2 on the patches and keep the lozenges as they are for now.

Do you think this is a good idea? Obviously I will discuss it with the Quit Smoking Advisor but I want to progress and my willpower is at an all time high so I think the time is right to lower my NRT dosage.

Its where you feel mentally. If it feels right for you to drop the dose then go for it! I was one that used them as a springboard then struggled with them after two weeks. If you want to come off them consider cutting the ones you have down a bit at a time and wean yourself slowly. Up to you though. As i said. Its your call! Whats the worse that can happen!!

If you feel that you can go CT and are stong enough then go for it! and remember that is what you will be doing as you have still been getting you fix whilst using the patch !! remember it takes three days for teh nicotine to get out of your system so there is a good chance you could get some cravings!

PErsonally I would stick with the NRT a little longer if it were me!!! but thats just my views.

I'm not looking to go CT yet, just thinking I should go to Step 2 patches which are 14mg instead of 21mg, sooner than indicated I should.

The 21mg's are keeping me going fine with no lozenges needed apart from that early morning "kick."

Personally I would stay with the stronger patches a little longer! I am just over the month myself and have to say it seems harder now then my first week which was!!! 'a walk in the park'

All the best!
