hi all, this is my second attempt of stopping smoking, and seen as though is it my bday and no smoking day i thought maybe there is a sign there
i tried only a few weeks ago and did go for 5 days but then it got to saturday and was bored, so i had a cig and that was me back on 20 a day at least. so am hoping second time around will be better for me.
i am using the 24hr patches and the inhalator, and finding it ok so far considering i was on 20-30 cigs a day.
i cant stop chewing gum which i suppose is better than chocolate
so i randomly found this forum and from what i can see it does motivate alot of people so am giving it ago.
well done to all of you who have given up. hop it will be me soon and i can officialy say im a non- smoker

I remember the day I quit last year, I found this forum. This was the key to my success. It will educate you and help you reinforce your quit and give you something to focus on if you need to. I never thought i'd be at the stage where I knew i'd never smoke again being an olympic serial smoker and quitter. But here I am, as are many others. Welcome to the forum and look forward to seeing further posts!
i just hope i got the will power to carry this on, its weird because i want one to hold and put to my mouth (inhalator comes in handy) but then again i dont because i hate the taste, its weird lol, ill get through it hopefully
Happy Birthday Hannah. Any sign you see to make a positive change to your life has to be worth chasing. A smoke free birthday  A USA member, Bella, recently celebrated one year of being quit along with her birthday. Wanna be the second member to do that in one year?
I smoked roll ups and approx 20 a day for 25 yrs or so and have been quit for almost 5 months.
It can be done and it need not be all pain and misery. There some great positive posts around, read and learn and all the best.

It's my day 1 too, and like you Hannah I'm using patches and inhalator. Andy, I love the idea of 10 sit ups everytime you think about fags, after 2 kids I could certainly do with some of that
I'm a day 2'er and already starting to feel the benefits along with the harsher cravings haha.
I've been in your boat Hannah, where I have started smoking again because I was bored, or missed it. But looking back at how energetic I was before I started to smoke, then looking at myself now, I can see the huge impact 11 years of smoking has had on my fitness and I do not miss it anymore.
aww dont think i could pick up one now after all those lovely things you have all said.
a colleague who smoked 30 a day gave up with the tablets and i keep thinking if he can do it i can do it!
i am defo going to try my best, i asked my partner if he would stop and he said he will but not yet, which isnt the answer i was looking for but then again you have to give up when u want to give up, so am not goint to force him.
oh and i have found that going to the gym is great to put your mind off it and ive had a baby so am defo going to have to do sit ups when i get the urge.
Hi Hannah and welcome to the forum, had to reply to you my eldest is Hannah also.
Looks like there is a whole gang of you here on day 1 and 2 it will really help you to keep each other motivated, when one is down the others can help.
Read the links, post often, remember it is the right decision, and if you think you might smoke when you get bored, just think how will that help, you will still be bored - just a bored smoker instead of a bored non smoker!
Stay strong and looking forward to reading your future posts.

Ha ha - I am telling you - everytime you feel the urge to smoke - do 10 situps - BE WARNED - your stomachs gonna suffer the first few days lol
And dont worry about your partner still smoking - I am in the same boat! my wife will be smoking when i get home tonight
They will figure their right time in their own time!
