Had my wisdom tooth removed today!!

And decided it was the perfect day to give up smoking - after all you can't smoke with a big gaping hole in your gum can you?! Using patches and the inhalator - feeling good so far but have smoked 10-15 a day for the past 20 years and apart from 2 pregnancies have never managed to give up:mad:

Now fulfiling a promise to my father-in-law who has just been diagnosed with throat and lung cancer at the very young age of 62:(

Feeling very positive today, and quite excited about the challenge ahead, although I'm sure that may change soon x

Hi Vicstar welcome to the forum.

Hope your not feeling too ill after your visit to the dentist, don't think I have ever seen this used as a spur to quitting, but whatever works for you :D

Sorry to hear about your FIL. We all have our reasons to stop and hopefully it will be a incentive for you.

I would recommend you read the links found in peoples sigs it will help you to stay focused.

Post often, to rant or to rave.

Stay strong, and l am looking forward to reading your future posts.

Ouch on the wisdom tooth, but well done on your decision to quit smoking, and what a very approriate day to do it.

You've listed some very relevant reasons for stopping, isn't it funny how we stop smoking through pregnancy, I don't remember it being a hastle at all? Stay strong mentally with all your reasons firmly imbedded, take it one day at a time and success will be yours.

Now go swill with some salt water and put your feet up.

Yuk! Not my idea of a fun day!

Well done to you for quitting. I only managed to quit on one of my pregnancies and still live with the guilt.

Welcome to the forum and look forward to seeing you post on day 2!

Thanks all - I agree that having your tooth out is quite a drastic way of getting me to quit, but as I didn't have any choice in the matter I though I'd go with the flow!:D

Now puffing away on my inhalator like a good 'un, but only one one side of my mouth as the other is all numb still!!

This forum looks a great way of getting moral support and boosting your willpower - have never used anything like this before so hoping I'll get some benefit from it x
