Hi all i do this for a job and help people to quit. It is a threshold decision to quit and once you have done that you are half way there. Nicotine is actually stimulant (not stress busting) & addictive / it does not take stress away you are only taking away the uncomfortable feelings that nicotine withdrawal gives you. Once you have fed it with a few puffs you feel fine until the nicotine drops off again then you have another cig. It only takes one to 2 cigs to get addicted as we are actually all born with nicotine receptors in our brains and it takes about three months for them to go to sleep and dormant. However they never die and it only takes a few puffs or a few cigs to wake them up again and you are then on the merry go round of being a smoker again. This means once a quitter always a quitter. You can't risk having a few puffs at a night out ever. As for the Champix users the above is the same for you but it can be easy with Champix and you still have to explore your triggers and coping strategies and have then firmly in place so when your Champix or NRT are finished you know you can cope.:o
