Today has been very weird for me, for the last month or so I have had a terrible chest infection and I think this was one of the main reasons for quitting cos ill health was getting ontop of me so anyway I had started to feel better but in the early hours before day one, I woke up with the worst tickly chesty cough and still have it now and I haven't slept a wink all night! but strangly enough I haven't really wanted a a cigarette, I had a slight moment this morning when I talked myself out of going to the shop but its been far to easy for me! I have been on day two before and I wanted to kill everyone and was a total nightmare. I am just waiting for that moment were I lose it like I have in the past but its just not happening, *Thank God* Simply being under the weather seems to be an added bonus.
Last night I was round my sister-in-laws and mum-in-lews and they both smoke and were both smoking with me standing with them and still it really didn't seem to bother me. One serious moment in nearly 2 days seems a little easy.
cos I have been here before and I know how crazy I was maybe I was just expecting the worse or maybe the worst it yet to come....sorry i'll stop rambling on *lol*

Hi Kerry maybe this time it’s a conscious decision you have made and you are going to stop this time and not let a habit that was going to kill you eventually win. I don’t know how you are tackling your quit but whichever way remember if the way you have chosen seems to stop working change to another there are plenty of options available.
Also now you have found this little community of Non Smokers you can be assured of plenty of support and try and read the threads that coincide with your state of quit, that way it lets you see how others handled it and maybe keep you focused and on track.
Always remember that we are here for you, good days and bad.
Once you have got a few days under your belt you will notice the difference in how you smell and how other smokers smell yuk LOL, sip lots of ice cold water or fruit juice if you have any craves it does help xx
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
Congrats on taking the steps to quit. I too was worrying about my health, and 7 months in I feel as fit as a fiddle, and when I wake up, I no longer cough splutter cough up flem cough splutter some more etc etc. Thats all gone.
Just know that whatever challenges come your way in the comming days that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and although 7 months seems ages away, it soon passes and I no longer crave fags and neither will you.
