First Timer Still Here...

Well, I made it onto my second day. It is currently half term which means I have nothing much to do - I have work but thats all at home which means the chances of me smoking are more.

Or perhaps, since I'm away from my friends that smoke - it means I'm smoking less. I'm not really sure. I know that right now I want one, but still I'm chewing this foul tasting gum.

I've noticed something - the gum doesn't alieviate the urge to smoke - it just numbs it. Is that the right word? I still have the urge to smoke but not the neccesity of it that I would feel without the gum.

Will update as my day goes on.

Thank you to everyone yesterday for the support - it was much appreciated. :)

Welcome and well done you for stopping smoking.

Distract yourself as much as you can, maybe some extra work around the house or outside if it's possible. Learning about the addiction to nicotine is a great way to help you stay stopped, there are some websites in my signature which give loads of information. Read around at how others at around the same time as you are doing and then take a look around six months and a year, here you will see people who have made it and it will help you to be convinced that you can do it too.

2nd day, good job. As Jackie says, find things to do, and try and find things that make you smile or even better laugh. Put some loud music on, dance, sing, whatever, but try do put some fun into the distractions. It isn't all doom and gloom, well it doesn't have to be.

Have a laugh, it's worth a try,

Lorraine :)

I don't know much about the gum I'm afraid but if it making the urge to smoke less it's helping

Keep posting and keep reading we'll all help as much as we can OK
