Hi everybody,

Well I had my last smoke last night at 10.30..:D

Had a few butterflies when I woke up this morning aswell as the sickly feeling from my champix..but so far so bloomin good..Keeping myself busy at work and trying to think of positive things which is working..

Getting out of all of my old routines is going to be a challenge but I think Im more prepared this time..will keep you all posted to how Im getting on.

Thanks again everyone for your great support

Bongo,

Routine.. routine, routine, where would we be without it. But with routine comes habit, and smoking was part of that.

When i smoked (before july last year), i found at work that I was constantly fitting in that 'extra smoke'.. and heck if i needed to work out a problem to do with someones computer, i used to pop out for a 'think' (read: smoke)

It may seem daunting changing your routine for now.. but it won't take long before you do finally work it all out. I went outside for a breather for the first few weeks of quitting anyway, and it was really nice taking in real air instead of smoke every other breath. Of course when the cold weather arrived i stopped going outside during the day if i didn't need to, and before long new routine was born out of the sensible.

You stop noticing the change in routine after a bit and the new routine will just make more sense. Which will be more comfortable all round.

Good health and fortune to you. You'll see all the benefits soon enough.

Jase is right about routines, the old ones get replaced with new ones, its only a few weeks for me but my 10 year+ routine of having a smoke before taking the dog out, then with a coffee after, has gone. At first I felt a bit twitchy and uncomfortable, but now it doesn't even cross my mind.

Don't worry too much about the routines that trigger off thoughts of smoking, as long as your firm with yourself and don't give yourself a back-door they'll fade and eventually go.

As Margaret says, baby steps, day by day is what it takes, those days soon add up.

You won't regret it, keep smiling,

Lorraine :)

Hi Bongo,

Day one is a biggy, it was my day 1 last Mondy. The Champex does its stuff and helps with the cravings, but the routines, the triggers, the habitual stuff is a bit hard at first, they do get easier to deal with. As the others have said just focus on getting through today smoke free.

You can do it, good luck.

Good for you :)

change to routine can be as subtle as you like, but i generally find the more you do to distance yourself from smoking and smokers for a bit at the start, the easier it is on you as there is less visual triggers there.

By now you're on day 3 and your body is nicotine free, all the hard work you;ve put in will be starting to pay off in more ways than one.

Well done and congratulations on deciding to quit. Best decision you'll ever make!
