Yea I looked on there and I agree seems a bit harsh but thats there Rule so if you cant stand the heat stay outa the kitchen LOL
I reckon that would put toooo much pressure on most of us but what seems to happen there is you just dont go on if you have a slip and then go back after and its all CT or nothing.
You stay on here and enjoy the relaxed atmospere its much better for you and helps you to stay quit.
Sorry but i have to totally disagree with the O.P.
Whyquit's policy is, firstly, entirely up to them and secondly a very strong reason why many people will not take that one piece of nicotine whether it be gum or puff or whatever.
The information on the whyquit site is fantastic and has helped many many people on here to stop and to stay stopped (along with the help and support etc from the other posters on NSD). If people think it is OK to have one puff or whatever then they are in grave danger of starting to smoke again.
One final thing, Whyquit are a Cold Turkey quitting forum and do not condone the use of any NRT or Campix type help to quit. That is entirely their prerogative.
That doesn't stop there information being excellent though.
(I also realise that the O.P. is entitled to their opinion
hmmmm
It is kinda harsh but only cos I am using patches lol!
Horses for courses and all that. I am just happy that I don't smoke any more and also know that cold turkey is not for me (lost count of my efforts down that road). Some will see that as me taking the cheating route but I don't care. Not had a cig for almost 39 days and thats what matters to me.
I also know that I will have another challenge when I finish the patches but sorting the mental bit out first.
I am too wimpy for the whyquit gang but I do still find some of their info really useful

Why do you think you will be challenged when you finish the patches? How are you working them, will you be weaning yourself off them? Well done on your 39 days another 3 days and it will be six weeks, sounds better than 42 days eh. David
Hello
Hi Dave,
I don't know if I am just expecting the worst but the lowest dose on my regime with the chemist is 10mg so just worried that going from that to nowt might cause some stronger cravings than I've got at the moment.
I had read some people posting saying that they have cut the patches in the last week to wean themselves down to even smaller amounts so could try that.
Guess when I go down by 10mg this week I will see how that goes. Fingers crossed its not so bad
Did you use the patches?
Debsx
p.s. hadn't thought of this Wed as 6 weeks - that sounds much better
Ok so 1 slip up and you arent welcome anymore??? thats great, and if thats their policy then thats their policy, but how many members do you think have actually slipped up but darent say...so therefore dont have the support that we do

Did you use the patches?
Hiya Debs. Yes I used patches. Started on 21 went to 14 and then 7, only used a couple of 7s though, mentioned to my adviser about the way they were playing my skin up and she suggested leaving the patch off at night. Did that and didn't put it on again, had no problems at all, as long as you have the right head on I think you'll be ok. People have weaned themselves off the patches by cutting them down as you say, that is entirely up to you. Are you working the programme or doing it yourself? David.
Here you are Debs Cutting Patches Posted by Bibleblack
Thank you
Hi Dave,
I am doing the programme through my local chemist but they are a bit rubbish. Once again tonight I was told a different regime as far as cutting down was concerned. She assumed I had, had setbacks cos I was still on the 25 on week 6???? Two weeks ago was told I should be on them for 8 weeks. But I had made up my mind to go down a strength. I am thinking about doing 3 of each of the lower strength.
Its really good to hear from someone who has followed the program in the usual way and been successful.
To be honest the thought of the cutting seems like a hassle but I am not a morning person so thats probably why
Thanks again for your advice and posting those links. Really useful.
Debs
Hiya Debs. Are you getting your patches on prescription? I was on the higher strength (21) for six weeks, two weeks (I think) for the 14 and 7. We are all different Debs, and the main thing is how our heads are. I went to the clinic on Thursday but I wasn't ready upstairs to start till Monday when I had got myself all geed up. You'll know how you feel Deb, just don't try and make it harder than you have to. You'll be ok. David.
makes sense i suppose that they should have this motto. although im glad this forum is different as i have tried and failed in the past whilst being a member of this forum but at least i know i can be honest and still be welcomed back with open arms when i decided to quit again!
Doing rlly well this time too. so thanks
Hi Athena
I used the 'Why Quit' website a lot as did many others and it is still a great help to me while trying to stay stopped. We are free to take what we want from the information given and leave what we don't. I also stopped using patches.
How are you doing with your quit you didn't say?
Keep reading and posting and you will get on well. Keep reading 'Why Quit', well worth it to save your quit.
Jackie
Been reading the Why quit site
Makes you think are we right using patches,
Where still addicted to nicotine
Going CT all the nicotine is out of your system in 72 hours
May just not put a patch on tomorrow and see how I go.
Last time I lasted 46 hours but this time I have more knowledge

Sorry for the possible "pissyness" in this post but I've just finished day 4 so meh.
Why quit appear to be a bunch of self promoting, suspicious bunch of strange folk.
1.) The Wiki page for NRT self references part of the entry, linking back to "Why Quit"
2.) They claim on their website cold turkey is the most successful method yet after a single google search you can find statistics from actual scientific bodies that suggest a 70% success rate for NRT users vs those given a placebo.
3.) Part of the wiki entry for NRT (referencing "Why Quit") claims some quite horrendous side effects of NRT, like 50% hair loss, yet the only "reported" problems I can find associated with this are people who have used NRT for many many years, the 50% hair loss for example is from a lady who used NRt for 16+ years.
If I was you I'd avoid a single source, especially one that appears to have some sort of agenda and get my info from as many sources as possible.
Whatever you're doing, if it's working for you then stick to it, it doesn't matter what anyone else says, aslong as you're not lighting up it's a step forward.
