First day on 24hr 14mg patches

Hi everyone

Someone just showed me this website because I was having a bit of 'pull my hair out and scream moment'. I put my first patch on last night at 10:30, after seeing the NHS advisor yesterday afternoon.

All day I have felt fine - No cravings, nothing. I kept thinking to myself "This is so easy!".

Then I had dinner. And I almost cried with the WANT to have a cigarette! Thankfully, the moment has passed and I didn't have one.

I think this is going to be a long and hard journey!

Hello!

This will be a journey, but the best journey you've ever made. What I do when it's tough is read the posts in the 2, 3, 6 months or a year forums and realise that they've all been through exactly the same of us, and it CAN (WILL) be done.

Please, please, get as much support as you can here and stay with it.

:D

I can second that, read if you crave, read if you don't. Knowledge is the key. We are all going through the same stuff, maybe at different times but there will always be someone on hand to help.

Post as often as you need, someone will be there :)

I'm just about (reluctantly) to leave the 14mgs to go down to the 7mgs...!

T'is kinda scary....there is about three cravey days with each change, the same as nicotine cold turkey wd's , until your body gets used to it...

Hang in there for three days with a few craves and it will be gone. A few people seem to cut bits off the patch every day and go down that way if thaT HELPS.

Thetattooedlady

come back and tell us how you got on. PLEASE trust us when we say it gets better over time. IT REALLY DOES.

Day 1, 2, and 3 are the "worst". This is when the nicotine is being removed from your body. Its hard, its painful, but you can get through this. Moments when you are used to smoking will be hard -- PLEASE breath deeply, take a moment to realise why you are quitting, drink some water. This moment wil pass.

Once you get to day 3 - your on your way. Your way to freedom.

Day 3 and beyond may present new challenges. Challenges, that many many people on here will give you advice on and have overcome. PLEASE STAY WITH YOUR QUIT DECISION. YOU WILL BENEFIT LIKE YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IF YOU STAY WITH IT.

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quittingwhyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...
