Ok so far.

I had my last cigarette at 7.30pm last night......I think it helps that I have a horrendous cold/bad throat at the moment so I don't really want to smoke anyway. :)

Anyway, so far so good.....I'm sure I will begin to feel crap soon but I will just keep going.

Hi Clare :)

Well done deciding to stop smoking and on day 1

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quittingwhyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here

Love

Marg xx

Day 1 how exciting! My advice is take each day as it comes (some are better than others) but you will be OK. Best of luck:)

Day 1, good for you on your decision. Sorry about the cold, although it might turn out a blessing if it's made you decide to stop smoking.

Anyway, so far so good.....I'm sure I will begin to feel crap soon but I will just keep going.

Don't expect it to feel tough or bad, you might be suprised that it's not as tough as you thought. There will certainly be days that are better than others, but as Christine said, take it a day at a time.

Best of luck, hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks guys!!

The throat thing and cold are evil......but I think in a way it has made it easier for me quit today.

Actually I just had a situation which tested my will power. I am going for an interview next week and I had only been told about an hour ago when it was.....as you can imagine I was excited but instantly stressed! My initial reaction was to go and have a cigarette but I just though "I don't smoke anymore" So instead, I called my Mum and wittered to her about my interview.

This isn't a one day at a time thing this is certainly a one minute at a time thing!

Thanks for the support all.

Welcome and well done stopping smoking. It is easier to see yourself as not smoking today we only need to do it for a day at a time. Do read as much as you can it will all help to keep your head straight about what you want instead of the lies we believed about smoking.

The evening of Day 1

So......I must say I thought I would be an angry git today but if I'm honest I have been fine. Yes I have wanted a cigarette a few times but it was almost a passing thought. Am I normal feeling ok about this quitting smoking thing????

I am now sitting at home with my other half (who is having a cigarette) and I am drinking wine and not really bothered by this.

Anyway, thanks again for the support guys on my day 1.

Lots of love.

Yay for Clare Bear and of course you're "normal" ... in fact it's brilliant that you've breezed through Day 1 without a fuss.

Have a fabulous weekend
