Any other 1 month'ers?

Am I the only person at 1 month?

Today is day 29, of week 5! Wahoo!!

Had no problems last week. Only brief thoughts of a smoke once in a while. No cravings to speak of. My mood was very good all week! I am feeling better and I even think I look better!

If I had one tip to give all quitters, it would be to start exercising. It magically improves your mood and gets rid of depression. Exercising has been going really well this week, not near the struggle is has been. I am up to 10K/40 min 2 times a day on the exercise bike. Walking about 2-3 k every other day. I am really surprised how much and how quickly my breathing has improved!

Here is the shocker, I was outside and down the hill in the garden, Iheard the phone and took off running up the hill. When I got to the house I realized, I could barely walk up that hill 30 days ago!!! Now how good is that!!

I have gained a lot of weight since quitting, so started last week to do something about it. I did not want to deny myself snacks right now, nor did I want to go on a strict diet. So decided to just try to substitute some lower calorie foods. Got rid of milk and cheese, switched over to diet coke/drinks and no real sugar in coffee. Got rid of the chocolate and chip stash, replaced it with big fat sweet dates and low fat salted baked pretzels. Increased the fruits and veggies, chicken and lean beef. I am still eating non stop, but....drum roll.... I lost 1.8Kg over the week! I wonder if that will happen again this week or if it was just luck?

So that is about it for now. I am so happy I am not a smoker!!

Well done, sounds like you getting a lot of things right for you. Regarding your request for others who stopped in December, there is a Social Group called the Crimbo Quitters.

Not a 1 monther yet

Just give me a month and I will be there...

Totally agree that Exercise is key...Either going to the gym or off to play tennis... I also love to jog but the weather is a bit rubbish...

Also so much cheaper to exercise than smoke...

Nice work Downunder...I'll race you to the two month mark...

Guess you'll win :)

Xmas Eve Quitter

Hi so pleased you feel good, must say I quit Xmas Eve and up to now I only have the odd crave and like you I eat LOL but I start tomorrow doing the same as you and replace some of the more fattening things with something safer LOL not choccy eating my last sweets as I type Maltesers LOL

Heres my little poem to read Well Done Hugs and Kisses

I’m really glad that you’ve quit

Cause in the past you’ve smoked some sh**

Smelly Hair Hands and Breath

Shorter Life but longer Death

Up the hills you’ve got no puff

Smokers cough that makes you rough

So pass each day without the weed

Cause only then will you succeed

So Bravo to all that now don’t smoke

Cause early Death is sure no Joke

Thought I'd have a poke about in the one month forum, I'm a little Day 12'er, but it's good to see how others have made progress and what's ahead of me.

EXERCISE! Agreed.

Here's the thing. When I smoked I would go to the gym, work out as hard as I could and eat less (because smoking was a substitue). When I don't smoke (like now), I can go to the gym, do twice as much exercise and offset the extra calories I'm eating. So there's no real reason for prolonged weight gain. Plus exercise is ACE.

G'day all!

Polster,

Today is day 11 of my new altered food choices and exercise every day. I have lost a total of 2kg!!

That is with out dieting or limiting my eating. Just took out the really fattening stuff and changed the types of snackes. Exercise is 80 min of bike riding every day and walking in hilly paddock about 2-3 k a couple of times a week.

It is working out to a loss of almost 1 KG every 5 days so far! I did really poor on the weight since quiting, so I did have some weight to loose, likely will not keep up that rate of loss for much longer. I think it is mostly due to the bike riding!!! And I can really feel the difference with how I just move around.

I caught myself power walking down the sidewalk today in town, passing everyone as I went. I used to always walk that way, but the last 5 years I have not been able to do it, have not had the breath or the strenght, so just slugged along. Wow!!! It was great to catch my old self back in action!
