THANKS sooooooooooooooooooo much to you all for such great support it really does keep me going Thanks x

Well i went to the smoking woman yesterday and she has given me the final 10mg patchers OMG i will soon be doing it alone she said i will on them for 2 weeks then im alone.

I must admit i feel quite scared doing it without patchers but fingers crossed i will be ok.I do feel quite strong about not starting again well i no i wont as i could no way afford it,but i do no one thing soon im going to treat myself to something as a tap on the bak to myself as i think i deserve it BIG TIME.

Would love to hear from anyone with advice who had used the patchers and did it make much difference when they went to there last strength patch?

Thanks Dave for all your support and keep the good work up :)

Patches

Hi Kay, patches worked for me, and I followed the programme and even further cos like u was scared of coming off them... I went on the last strength for a further 3 weeks. I built myself up to having no patch, and was amazed how I felt ok..... Had some nico chewing gum incase, but overall was fine.....

Yeah u treat yourself u deserve it.......

I am now 10 months quit and am positive would never go back, but mainly from the patches and the forum, otherwise would never have got here..

Good Luck & Stay focused...... Kaz :p

Hi Kay

You should treat yourself my love, what do you fancy?? A pamper is a great way to start. I can not give you any advice on patches but someone will help you.

Take care, you are doing really well.

Hi Kay

Try not to worry about what may or may not happen when you finish with the patches.

If it helps, you can buy them when your smokey nurse stops prescribing them, as a 'fall back/comfort' only you understand ;)

Just because she says stop doesn't mean the patch supply needs to stop but hey, your going to do just fine anyway.

I didn't do the whole patch course and though my smokey nurse thought I should drop to the lowest patch I refused and stopped cold just days after the mid strength.

I'm stubborn and knew for me that prolonging the 'going alone' was not for me. I'm a sort of 'get it over with and deal' kind of person with some things, not all, but the quit, the patches and doing it for myself was one of those 'do it and deal' moments.

It was rocky and maybe i could have avoided that. Who knows and will ever know? I did it but I would not recommend it but I would suggest it :)

You have managed brilliantly so far Kay and there is every good reason to fully believe you will continue to do so when your finish this strength patch.

Your already feeling you don't want to start smoking again and that will help your resolve as will we.

Keep us posted and don't risk thinking you have to do things just one way or another. Things are not black and white.... there are colours in between.

Trimming patches down bit by bit can be useful.... there's a link about it somewhere which I'll try and find for you....... you do what feels right for you and that you know you can do.

Hi Kay :D

You're doing just great well done

The lowest patch ah also a good sign that you're winning the fight sp instead of dreading it look forward to it I promise it's a great feeling to go it alone

Don't worry about going it alone you'll be fine you may have a couple of down days as the last of the Nicotine leaves your system but it will settle just as the drop in patch strength did OK

Love and a Hug

Hi Kay, I came off my patches before the specified time and had no problem at all. Some people here cut their patches to reduce the nicotine and made the move down to none smoothly.

Hi There Kay!

I stopped using patches, i think it took me about 4 weeks in total, and am one of the Patch cutters as the lovely Jackie mentions above....

I too was scared to lose my crutch in the patches, and decided that rather than going straight down to nothing, i'd cut them in half to wean down even more... the lowest strength that i was having in the end was so barely there, that when i forgot to put one on... nothing untoward happened....

My mood swings apparently became fine again on the no patches... so for me it was a good thing...

Good luck with whatever you do... but only do it when you feel confident and ready.. the feeling this week will not be as prominent next week or even in a couple of days.... Your doing wonderfully - Well done!!! xxx

Hi Kay, congrats on your quit up to now, you are doing great. You asked about the "going it alone" when you come off the patches, well I was on the 21mg patches for about 3 weeks but they really were not suiting me very well as I had very bad leg cramps at night. One day I just decided to stop them altogether and I was fine. Not saying I recommend it but it suited me and it didn't feel terrible or anything and the joy of it was that the night cramps gradually eased off.

That was about 5 weeks ago and no problems so far, I'm sure you will be fine when the time comes. Good luck, just take it easy and as the others have said if you feel you need it you can always buy the patches and gradually cut them down to make the transition slower. xx :)
