Ugh. Day 1 has not gone well!

Okay so I had my supposed to be last cig at 12:40am last night...

Then I didn't sleep well because I woke up in the night in pain, but managed to sleep eventually & got up pretty late and went to lunch with my friend who I haven't seen for a while & it was really nice. Cravings were manageble.. Guess its because I was occupied..

Come home about 20 mins ago.. and I suddenly felt like I HAD to have a fag.. We have some patches and one of those inhalator things in the drawer from about 6 months ago when a smoking nurse gave them to me.. But I couldn't find the refill cartridges, which seems to make me super mad.. then I found some nasty stale baccy.. and I had a rollie =(

I'm pretty angry at myself now, i'm thinking maybe going cold turkey isn't the best option for me. Still can't find the inhalator catridges, not sure wether to put a patch on or what. Having that 1 smoke seems to have made me want more, my cravings are now worse then before i'd smoked it!!

I've been looking online at these electronic cigarettes.. not sure wether to buy one or not! I tried my friends once and it was pretty cool. Has anyone on here actually managed to quit using one?

Try to persevere

Hey

You need to keep busy, try and get through the first 72 hrs, check out why quit - link in my sig,

You've fed your nicodemon, now it wants more, and each time you feed it - it will want more.

One rolly is nothing, get some fruit juices, chop up some veggies, go for a walk do anything but give into temptation, you've started on this journey and it's worth seeing it through.

Have lots to do to keep yourself occupied - withdrawal doesn't last for ever. Stay strong keep posting and read read read.

Not sure about the electronic ciggie things. I tried them and no good for me. You're still getting the nicotene and you're maintaining the habit of smoking (the hand to mouth thing). Patches and other NRT give you the nicotene without the habit. Champix etc suppress the nicotene kick leaving you to manage the habit side of it.

I think that to quit smoking, you have to handle the psychological aspects more than the physical cravings.

Good luck with whatever you try.

Put the blip behind you, it doesnt mean you have failed.

I was given patches an the inhalator (I called it the annihilator ) - patches gave me a sore patch within hours so took it off and I chewed the inhalator to bits so got rid of that on day two and went it alone.

Just dont give up trying, if at first you don't succeed and all that :-)
