So hard today..

Hello All,

I'm a newbie and have been watching this board since I quit at 11am on Sunday. I'm a first timer too.. and I've been smoking since I was 13.. that's 24 years.

I'm very proud of myself for getting this far but today (Day 5) has been so uncomfortable. The cravings are awful and my poor inhalator has almost had the end chewed off! I hardly dare go to the shop on the way home from work incase my resolve crumbles and I come home with more than just milk.

This board has been a godsend. Just had to share.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are finding today so difficult. You're doin really great though, getting to day 5 is a big thing, you should be proud of yourself. Just be determined to get through today. Tomorrow is another day try to face it with an open mind.

some days are harder than others. get through it and move on to the next.

Best of luck to you.

Keep goin'! It'll all click in to place in the end! I've not really suffered cravings or pangs, I put that down to the Easy Way audio book I listened to over the weekend. It bores you so much that you dare not ever smoke again in fear of listening to it again! (or want)

Hi and welcome to the forum. Day 5 is really good, a couple more and a whole week done and dusted.

Sorry that today has been hard, but as previously said there will be bad days and good days, try using the good days to get through the bad. Have you read the links you will find them very useful in the tricker times.

If you don't feel strong enough to go to the shop, then don't. Keep posting and reading this feeling will pass and you will feel stronger and better.

hey, look at how far you've come already, try taking 1000mg doses of vitamin c,you can get slow releasing tablets, this will help with the cravings, you can also get something called Avena Sativa, which is from oats,it comes in liquid form and you add up to 30 drops to water or milk etc, you can try this up to 3 times day and has helped me,you can get it at holland and barretts or health food shops, and costs about £7.

Other than that drink loads of water again this helps, and try to think positive,ie im so glad i stopped smoking instead of thinking you have given up something that you miss,as you will go on missing it for long time.

remember to read loads, and you can post loads on here as we have allbeen there, let us know...........

Thankya all.

I went to the shop, drooled at the Lambert and Butler, bought the milk and left.

I know I'm doing well, just forever feels like an awfully long time and I expect that I'll have these awful cravings for the rest of my days. Apparently this isn't true! :)

Almost a week in.. A whole week... whooda thought it!

I like Rescue Remedy drops (from Boots). They take the edge off anything, they're really REALLY warming (they taste like brandy!).

Sweetheart I promise it will get better, but it's a hard slog and you are doing so well. The cravings will go, lollies, chewing gum and humbugs worked for me in the early days (even though I'm a lolly addict now).

My advice would by drink plenty of water, get a good vitamin supplement and if you start to feel down St Johns Wort AND obviously the board.

Stick with it and well done.

Hi Cabin

Well done for getting to day 5. You have done well going to the shop and just getting the milk!:)

It will start getting better soon. The cravings will slow down and not be strong. Drink lots of water and I found Lucozade glocose tablets helped me with the cravings.

keep reading and sending messages on this forum as this helps aswell. It's a brill site for advice, support, laughs and friendships especially when you are having a real bad down day.;)

Hope to see your post soon.

Best wishes

Ju
