I've been completely cold turkey now since Friday night - and it seems to be working!
I had nearly a week's worth left of patches, but they were starting to get on my nerves, so I just decided not to bother any more, and I don't really feel any different!
I'm still carrying the inhalator round with me in case of emergency - but I haven't needed it yet, hopefully I won't!
I'm just having a beer before bed to celebrate - purely for medicinal reasons as I ache all over from dancing too much last night, and booze is meant to be a great muscle relaxant!

MCW - well done you. I think we all know that there comes a point when we have to ditch the patches, gum, Champix and get on with life and it sounds like you're at that stage. You don't need the nicotene, all that's left is the habit, and you're better than that.
Hey, I haven't had my Champix for 3 days now and as I keep saying, if I can do it, so can you (yes, I know, I have what you girls call "man flu", but give me a break here)
It's ok Dave - I understand! I get man flu too (even though I'm a girl).
Try my cure - A lemsip with the juice of a whole lemon squeezed into it, along with a big lump of fresh ginger (finely grated), a good slug of brandy and a dollop of honey.
Hey, go you  No patches, your going it alone.....
I've not used my inhalator thing in ages and ages and as you know, my cartridges are really very out of date...... I threw them away earlier and the inhalator thing away the other day.... it has been in my jeans pocket for weeks with no use.
So, what made you finally ditch the patches as they were getting on your nerves? *curious*
Haha, I bet, on some weired level, you miss the dreams..... not the ones about ugly babies though and a shortage of sitters.
I still sometimes waken during the night and it's so annoying as it can last for 30 mins or so and I just lie there....... how has your sleep been since quitting the patches?

The way i see it, you got to cut the nicotine altogether at some point, to be truly quit from being a user of the drug itself. I quit the patches route.. in honesty i was ready to stop patches before the 10 weeks, but i made a promise to my other half that i would go the full course of them this time around. Anyway, for me 10 weeks came and went, went from step 1 to 2 then to the little step 3's.. and then to nothing on 18th September, and i've been patch free ever since..
day 3-4 much like the early days of your quit will probably be the challenging days, but trust me.. i repeat.. TRUST ME... no matter how tough it seems on day 3 and 4.. ride through it for all your worth.. once your through those 3-4 days after stopping using patches everything becomes so much more focused.
Respect and best wishes to you.. and best of luck for the next few or so days.
Well done you patch free and going solo, isn't that a great feeling and by now what little Nicotine was still in your system will be almost gone I think you're wise to have the inhalor in case of emergency but I feel sure you won't need it now
Giving up whatever crutch we choose to help us along the way is always going to be tough i know when i gave up the champix it was really bad, not particularly from craving, i just felt ill and completely out of sorts, that has passed now and i feel great. It will probably be bad for you so hang in there and you WILL come out the other side.
That's so cool, a few more hours and you'll be totally nicotine free! Then you can just get on with living, won't have to think 'do I have my patches' before going away, partying etc, you can just live!
Yay! Fabulous! your post is quite inspirational...
I have been cutting my patches in half, with a view to going to a quarter soon.... cant wait to be off the nicotine replacement asap, seems silly to be smoke free and still be addicted to a sticking plaster now....
