Hey tigger, You are doing real well. Each day is a struggle and one day you realize that Hey, I don't smoke any more!!!
A short while back the US government was giving each person $3500 if you bought a car that got better gas mileage than the one you have. It was so tempting to buy a new car but I did not want a car loan over my head. The smell in my car was the last hurdle for me. So I bought an oil air freshener for my car. Not as good as new car smell but much cheaper. Now my car has a vanilla smell.
Well done getting to your 2nd week that's great Big Hug
Sorry you had that bad crave that was beaten by cleaning the upstair floors it doesn't matter how you beat the craves as long as you do
As to your question do we ever stop wanting a fag the answer is yes we do I only get the odd moment when doing something for the first time since I quit and have for a long time now just a fleeting thought gone almost before it's there
Why not try a sweet or a lolly when driving home from work a lolly would give you the same hand to mouth thing that you're used to so may work
Almost wasnt here an hour ago. had a mad crave.. lasted ages as it was sparked by a stress situation... beat it by cleaning all floors up stairs
settled down now..... do we ever stop wanting a cig.
am fine most of time, but drivng home from work is a bad time, any suggestions???
Sue
I think we do stop wanting a cig, think that actually stops fairly early about where you are now, with the benefit of hindsight, any *craves* after that point are more about the remembrance of nicotine addiction being satisfied. Essentially, whenever as smokers anything happened we had a fag, ordinarily when we had a fag we were already in the down cycle of needing nicotine replenishment, so once that was satisfied we felt better because we were no longer craving. What will be happening now for most people at your stage is re-learning how to negotiate life's pitfalls without nicotine addiction as well.
Keep reading and never take another puff. You've made it this far, you've slogged through a challenging time, why do it to yourself again. Don't ever do the last 2 weeks again.
hey tigerpaws - well done on getting through a make or break moment. Each time you do that and succeed, your resolve will strengthen, making it easier next time (hopefully you wont have next time but you know what I mean!)
smoking in the car is a tough one. Maybe take it to the garage and get it professionally valeted? costs about 20 quid i think, be a nice treat with the smoking money saved.
